"My new husband and I had a wonderful time here. It was peaceful, private and relaxing. Just what we were looking for after the hustle and bustle of wedding planning. Everything we needed was included. Steve and Sue were great hosts and very helpful. The cabin was very clean and well kept. Thank you so much!"

  • "Superior" in every way

"Our time at your cabin was wonderful. The week covered the entire gamut of weather.....warm, calm, stormy, windy, cool, sunny , cloudy. Each day was different and dramatic in its own way. Our 16 year old Border Collie acted like a pup again , chasing sticks into the lake and in general, enjoying herself. The "Big Bay Tennis Assn." was most accommodating in the use of the courts they built and asked us to join them in a set of tennis. In addition to day trips to waterfalls, Thomas Lookout and the Huron Mountain Club gateway, we sampled the local cuisine. Lumberjack Bar ice cream was a high point as was Lisa and my good fortune to celebrate our 60th and 70th birthdays at your lovely cabin. Thank you and we hope to be back!"

  • Perfect Snowmobile Vacation

"We booked a last minute snowmobile vacation in the UP with the lack of snow in SW MI. There were six of us and we chose the East Lake Retreat based on size, location and other reviews. I don't know how we could have made a better selection. The location is secluded and quiet, yet only 10 minutes into town. You could snowmobile right out of the driveway and be on the trails in minutes. There was a large driveway that could easily handle 2-3 snowmobile trailers. Plenty of great little restaurants to select from compared to the "chain" restaurants. The home is perfect just like all the other reviews stated. Everything is very organized and extremely "simple" which is just what most of us need on vacation. Barb was quick to respond and great to deal with. It was a terrific way to bring in the New Year! Thanks Barb for everything!"

  • Great views, excellent location, comfortable

"Lovely views of the pond and the big lake from the living, dining and kitchen area. Clean comfortable furniture, not pictured is outdoor table chairs on the deck, we spent much time there. We are seniors, had no problem rowing across the pond, walking to the beach. It would be difficult for those who are not active or disabled. The beach is very private. We saw a bald eagle sitting on driftwood. Just 2 of us, the king bed was great, liked the adjoining half bath. Suggestions for guests, bring dish towels and dish clothes and a box fan or 2. The ceiling fans are nice but we needed more. I hope the owers read this and leave a box fan in a closet. They have plenty of bath towels. Kitchen is well supplied with pots, pans, dinnerware, silverware, utensils. If need spices, flour, sugar, bring along, there is salt, pepper. Don't forget coffee and toilet paper! I liked finding the refrig and bathrooms were free of remnants from other guests. There is a very close by neighbor to the West, no one was home. A realtor showed that house while we were there. This neighboring house has a birds eye view of the deck and west side of house. Total privacy is something crave when in Grand Marais, the house was a great fit for us, we will return and take our chances."
