  • 2 Family UP vacation!

"My family with our closest friends stayed here for a vacation this summer. Gladstone is a perfect town to make your base for exploring the UP. The pictures don't do the house justice! It was plenty large for both families. The bedrooms were large and the beds were very comfortable. The home was decorated well and was quite charming. The kitchen reminded me of my grandfather's. The hardwood floors throughout made the home easy to keep clean with all of us trekking through. Steve and Barb are great hosts, and a minor issue I encountered was immediately and thoroughly resolved. I would definitely stay here again! Make sure you visit Dobber's Pasties and The Buck Inn for food. We charter fished with Lucky Line Charters, Captain John was great with the boys, a real class act. We visited Quincy Mine in Hancock (need to visit Canyon Falls on the way back-beautiful!), explored Marquette/Ishpeming, toured Pictured Rocks by boat (recommend the sunset cruise), hiked Tehquamenon, visited Oswald's Bear Ranch (kids' favorite), Whitefish Point, Soo Locks, canoed the Marquette River through Seney Wildlife Refuge (recommend for experienced canoeists, not kids), played on the beaches in Gladstone and Escanaba. Overall one of the best vacations we've had in a while, thanks Steve and Barb!"

  • Couple age 55. Were looking for nice, quiet place with cool climate and walking opportunities

"We loved location. You get out of door and find yourself in the beautiful park with lovely trail. There is another park in Escanaba, short drive from the house. Both parks located on Michigan lake. While in Escanaba, be sure to visit Swedish Pantry for great food and Leigh's Garden Winery for great wine. One hour drive from the cottage is city of Marquett which is well worth of driving to. There is farmers market in both Gladstone and Escanabe which offers great fresh produce, eggs, baking goods, etc The cottage is equipped with absolutely everything you might need during your stay. We always rent houses or condos for our vacation and we both agree that this cottage equipped better than any other place we stayed at."

  • Perfect Family Getaway

"My husband and I wanted a relaxing vacation this year with our two small children. We found this little jewel on Little Bay De Noc. I was immediately impressed with how quickly the owner contacted me. He was very nice, friendly and organized. The cabin was clean and had everything we needed. The view from the living room and kitchen was breathing taking and the sunsets were even better. The beach was nice and sandy, which is was perfect for the kids. The days and nice were quiet and relaxing. We had a few bond fires and watched the stars. Upon arrival, there was a nice little book that had flyers and recommendations for food to activities. This helped us during the week to plan what we wanted to do! We would stay at Camp Hawker again without hesitation!"
