  • Great times at a good place.

"We rented the whole house for a week of snowmobiling and skiing. House is very modern and spacious. The upper and lower units ARE NOT connected from the inside so you must go outside to go between units. Not a big deal but just be aware of it. Bedrooms are nice size and have comfortable beds. 3 full bathrooms are large and very nice. House is warm and cozy. Good parking- fit my truck and 29' trailer. Walking distance to Indian Head ski lodge which has a bar and restaurant. There is also a pool and sauna at the lodge that you can use for a small fee (except Saturdays). Snowmobile trail is very close by so no need to trailer anywhere. Joe has plenty of fire wood on hand so you can kick back and enjoy a warm fire while watching the big screen TV. Wi-Fi is nice if you bring your computer like we always do. Plenty of great bars and restaurants are close by if your group wants to go out. Joe is a great guy and is easy to work with. We would gladly come back to his place again."

  • Everything you need and more in a perfect place by the lake

"The place is in 100 per cent. accordance with the description, but in reality the cottage is even better. The owners Ted and Lynn live nearby and were most friendly, although we did not need them because everything was in mint condition. When we arrived (early fall chill), the fully automated wood-pellet stove had already warmed up the cottage. A rowboat complete with lifevests lay ashore to our disposition, it is a nice lake to row about (we do not fish, but people do, mostly from slow pontoons). The nice pier should be good for swimming in shallow clear water - in summer, that is. The house is very well maintained and has all the works, flat TV, coffeemaker, four-flame gas stove, outside barbecue, you name it...we did not miss anything and found more stuff than we needed. I would highly recommend this vacation home to all those seeking nature by the water. Secluded as it is, the drive to the Michigan Highway 35 is 2.5 mi gravel and then 10 min to Gwinn (there is a completely stocked supermarket in town) or 35 min to Marquette (24hrs Walmart). We cooked every night (BBQ), but in Little Lake (5 min) there is The Throttle, a no-nonsense bar and restaurant. This being the UP, there are NO "nearby" attractions apart from Gwinn itself (Model Town, quite unique), but for example Pictured Rocks is 1 hour away, the Iron Ore Heritage Bike Trail (very well maintained) is 40 min, Keewenaw is 2 hours away. If it were not so far from home, we would love to repeat in the near future!"

  • Perfect 20th Anniversary Trip

"We stayed an entire week in this beautiful cabin in the UP of Michigan. The cabin was well equipped with everything to make your stay easy and enjoyable. Kitchen is well stocked, gas grill is ready and waiting, the pellet stove is up for its important job and the decor makes you feel right at home. Mary Jean answered our emails in a timely manner and even though our deposit checks "went missing", she was very patient and understanding. There was a folder with all the pertinent info one could need on the area "goings on". We used a blue pamphlet to make sure to hit all the big sights and many waterfalls in the area (we always had this with us). The day trips looking for waterfall after waterfall were the best. This area is a GREAT place to Geocache. I think we found 28 caches on this trip. The most ever in such a short amount of time (we usually have our teens with us and it's usually them actually locating the caches - it's sooo much fun being the 'finder' and not the 'secretary' documenting the finds). The hot tub is great and always makes returning after a long day knowing that's waiting. We didn't have enough time to enjoy the lake right there at the cabin. Our day trips kept us busy and when we were at the cabin, the chilly air and winds kept us inside by the stove. There's so much left to do up there and I think a 2 week visit would be ideal. We want to return again ASAP and thinking about leaving the teens at home once again. The cell service is nil but you know that from the get go since Mary Jean made sure to inform us of that ahead of time. The cabin does have WI-Fi and when we were at the cabin, my husband was able to keep in contact with other family members who had iPhones. There's too much more to tell you and you will need to take my word for it when I say this is the perfect cabin to stay at. Thank you Ed and Mary Jean for sharing your family home with us. We'd love to return next year."
