  • Excellent cottage, beautiful spot

"We stayed for a week at the end of August, our 3rd time coming here. The cottage is sweet, well maintained, very clean, pretty much as depicted. The little screen porch in the front is especially pleasant in the mornings and evenings. Cottage feels bright and open despite modest size. The beach area is gorgeous, very shallow, which helps with the water temps, which vary with wind. No getting around that it is Lake Superior (cold) but kids seem unphased. There is a beautiful wetlands behind the beac road which you can access by kayak from down the beacH (and see from the window). Nice mountain biking nearby in Calumet; nice road biking once you are off the gravel access roads. Access to food coop in Hancock, but other grocery store in nearby Hubble. Very nice walking beach all along Little Traverse Bay. Owner is very friendly and helpful about the area."

  • better than pictured

"We rented this cottage for a long weekend (two senior couples). The web site pictures don't do it justice. This three level home was much bigger than pictured. One bedroom (queen) with one bathroom on the same floor. Two bedrooms upstairs (queen and the 3rd bedroom has a double plus 4 single beds) There is not, however, a bathroom on the upper floor. The other bathroom is on the lower level. The home was clean and well stocked with dishes, condiments, towels, a bbq grill and lovely little beach area. The only disappointing thing was that it was pretty isolated in a wooded area and 1/2 drive to St Ignace. If renting for a quiet get-away it would have been perfect. My grandchildren would have loved it. Would definitely recommend this one!"

  • Couple age 55. Were looking for nice, quiet place with cool climate and walking opportunities

"We loved location. You get out of door and find yourself in the beautiful park with lovely trail. There is another park in Escanaba, short drive from the house. Both parks located on Michigan lake. While in Escanaba, be sure to visit Swedish Pantry for great food and Leigh's Garden Winery for great wine. One hour drive from the cottage is city of Marquett which is well worth of driving to. There is farmers market in both Gladstone and Escanabe which offers great fresh produce, eggs, baking goods, etc The cottage is equipped with absolutely everything you might need during your stay. We always rent houses or condos for our vacation and we both agree that this cottage equipped better than any other place we stayed at."

  • "Superior" in every way

"Our time at your cabin was wonderful. The week covered the entire gamut of weather.....warm, calm, stormy, windy, cool, sunny , cloudy. Each day was different and dramatic in its own way. Our 16 year old Border Collie acted like a pup again , chasing sticks into the lake and in general, enjoying herself. The "Big Bay Tennis Assn." was most accommodating in the use of the courts they built and asked us to join them in a set of tennis. In addition to day trips to waterfalls, Thomas Lookout and the Huron Mountain Club gateway, we sampled the local cuisine. Lumberjack Bar ice cream was a high point as was Lisa and my good fortune to celebrate our 60th and 70th birthdays at your lovely cabin. Thank you and we hope to be back!"
