  • Great Place! Great Location!

"I met my Dad and Brother at this vacation rental for a long weekend of fishing. The place was easy to find and very close to the Marina/Bait Shop/Pub/Gas Station. There is plenty of room to park numerous vehicles and trailers. The place was very well kept and fully stocked with the essentials (TP, paper towels, clean sheets and towels, cooking supplies, etc...). All of the utilities were in good working condition. The place has a lot of really cool decorations and is very comfortable. The Cedar River is directly across the road (CR 551). There is also a secluded state park/campground about 5.5 miles up the river. My Dad and I dumped the canoe in at the campground and paddled/fished back to the house. This is a great place to visit/stay if you are looking for serenity and tranquility. The surrounding area is also a great fishery (Salmon, Walleye, Bass, and Pike). The owner made the renting experience very simple and easy. I would highly recommend this place and we will definitely return for another stay!"

  • "Superior" in every way

"Our time at your cabin was wonderful. The week covered the entire gamut of weather.....warm, calm, stormy, windy, cool, sunny , cloudy. Each day was different and dramatic in its own way. Our 16 year old Border Collie acted like a pup again , chasing sticks into the lake and in general, enjoying herself. The "Big Bay Tennis Assn." was most accommodating in the use of the courts they built and asked us to join them in a set of tennis. In addition to day trips to waterfalls, Thomas Lookout and the Huron Mountain Club gateway, we sampled the local cuisine. Lumberjack Bar ice cream was a high point as was Lisa and my good fortune to celebrate our 60th and 70th birthdays at your lovely cabin. Thank you and we hope to be back!"

  • Phenomenal Location and Fantastic Home

"My husband, brother-in-law and sister-in-law stayed in this home for a week and never wanted to leave. The view of Lake Huron and the Mackinaw Bridge are phenomenal...you can even see the cottage as you are coming over the bridge from Mackinaw City. The home is fantastically equipped and furnished first class right down to the heated toilet seats with LED night lights and the lighted cupola on the roof of the house. Our temps were in the high 50's at night to high 70's during the day and the house is so well insulated we never had to turn on the heat or the AC. This home is so welcoming and inviting that we never wanted to leave. My husband and I have rented multiple properties in the Caribbean, Florida and Arizona and this was by far the overall best property we have ever stayed in. If we get the chance to return to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan we will definitely try to rent the "Cottage On the Straits" again. I would give this property and the Owner 10 stars if I could."
