"My wife and I had shipped our son and daughter off to college and needed someplace to escape to in order to recharge our batteries. Our golden retriever asked to make the trip as well. Fortunately, I stumbled upon the perfect location to enjoy some rest and relaxation. The Quarry House was the right destination. Mary and Mitch were wonderful hosts, inviting us into their home, sharing stories, answering questions and graciously inviting us for crackers, cheese and wine one evening under Mitch's handcrafted pergola. Their place is spectacular, off the beaten path yet close enough to everything and every place that we wished to visit. We spent days hiking and biking the paths of Newport State Park and Peninsula State Park and sitting in the sunshine along Lake Michigan and reading a good book. The Carriage House accommodations were superb - clean, spacious and comfortable (with a whirlpool tub to soak aching muscles at the end of the day). Every amenity that we might have needed was available. I enjoyed sitting in the shade under the pergola and reading as the chickadees, nuthatches, blue jays, red bellied woodpeckers, Downy & Hairy woodpeckers and Kingfishers kept me company. It was the perfect spot for us with two wonderful hosts."

"Clean private and many enmities including AC. Fair fishing right off the dock in the evening for Smallmouth and a few Perch and Walleye. The beach is very small and hard to access due to a rocky shore so not recommended for young children. Also, even though there is a claim for a boat dock, you cannot use it over night which the owner clearly explains in the welcome email, after you pay your fees. So if you have anything but a small fishing boat to pull up on the shore, you will have to trailer from a good DNR boat launch about as mile away."

"My husband and I rented the 1930s log cabin for a family vacation, including our young adult children and their significant others, ages 17-30. We wanted to spend time together and have a scenic place on the water to hang out and this was a great property to do so! We truly appreciated being able to bring our little dog, too! The cabin has a great room feeling with a lot of space and charm; the 7 of us were comfortable. We used the boats every day--pontoon, fishing boat, and canoes--what a bonus! The Manitowish lake chain is gorgeous, clear water, good fishing, and not crowded! We have been to Eagle River, Minocqua and St Germain and this location is our favorite! We prepared almost all of our own meals at the cabin, used the BBQ grill, fireplace, played board games, read books, and enjoyed seeing/hearing all the wildlife including eagles and loons. We did some shopping in town, including getting ice cream, coffee shop, and went to Little Bohemia one night for dinner/fish fry. Patience and Charlie, the owners, live next door and are available if you need anything and are gracious hosts. We loved it!"
