  • Everything you need and more in a perfect place by the lake

"The place is in 100 per cent. accordance with the description, but in reality the cottage is even better. The owners Ted and Lynn live nearby and were most friendly, although we did not need them because everything was in mint condition. When we arrived (early fall chill), the fully automated wood-pellet stove had already warmed up the cottage. A rowboat complete with lifevests lay ashore to our disposition, it is a nice lake to row about (we do not fish, but people do, mostly from slow pontoons). The nice pier should be good for swimming in shallow clear water - in summer, that is. The house is very well maintained and has all the works, flat TV, coffeemaker, four-flame gas stove, outside barbecue, you name it...we did not miss anything and found more stuff than we needed. I would highly recommend this vacation home to all those seeking nature by the water. Secluded as it is, the drive to the Michigan Highway 35 is 2.5 mi gravel and then 10 min to Gwinn (there is a completely stocked supermarket in town) or 35 min to Marquette (24hrs Walmart). We cooked every night (BBQ), but in Little Lake (5 min) there is The Throttle, a no-nonsense bar and restaurant. This being the UP, there are NO "nearby" attractions apart from Gwinn itself (Model Town, quite unique), but for example Pictured Rocks is 1 hour away, the Iron Ore Heritage Bike Trail (very well maintained) is 40 min, Keewenaw is 2 hours away. If it were not so far from home, we would love to repeat in the near future!"

  • Great Up North Cabin for the Entire Family

"This cabin had a little bit of everything. The cabin is on a peninsula with water in the front and back of the house. The views were beautiful! We saw many birds including ducks, eagles, and cranes. The kids loved the paddle boat and swing set. My husband loved that there was plenty of kids life vests and fishing poles. Our weather was somewhat rainy, so I enjoyed that there was so much to do for us and the kids in the cabin: cable, internet, kids toys, kids books, board games and cards. The cabin was clean and very accommodating with lots of comfy seating and beautiful views. Our and our brothers' family rented this cabin as an alternative to staying in a hotel in Marquette while we visited for our sister’s graduation from NMU. We had 10 of us all together and had everything you needed in the kitchen to cook and serve meals. The drive to Marquette was quick and easy. Our trip was only for a long weekend and I feel like there was so much more we could have enjoyed while we were there, I wish we had stayed for a week. I would definitely recommend this cabin for anyone looking for a up north vacation with the family or friends!"

  • Perfect Family Getaway

"My husband and I wanted a relaxing vacation this year with our two small children. We found this little jewel on Little Bay De Noc. I was immediately impressed with how quickly the owner contacted me. He was very nice, friendly and organized. The cabin was clean and had everything we needed. The view from the living room and kitchen was breathing taking and the sunsets were even better. The beach was nice and sandy, which is was perfect for the kids. The days and nice were quiet and relaxing. We had a few bond fires and watched the stars. Upon arrival, there was a nice little book that had flyers and recommendations for food to activities. This helped us during the week to plan what we wanted to do! We would stay at Camp Hawker again without hesitation!"

  • Nice place - quiet and peaceful

"Stayed with a couple of old college buddies, quiet, peaceful, well-equipped. Owner represents place honestly. Enjoyed the grill and the fire ring in the evenings. A little close to neighbors for me, but they were nice and/or quiet."
