"We had a very nice stay in Canadian Lakes. The house was nice and a great location next to the lake. My wife loved to go out on the screened in porch each morning with her coffee and enjoy the view. Everything in the house worked well except the coffee maker. We couldn't get it to work and just bought one at the hardware store...no big deal. There is a queen size mattress in the large bedroom in the basement, but the bed frame is for a full size bed...recommend you get a queen size frame. No issues with the other two bedrooms in the basement. The bedroom on the main floor was very nice and comfortable. Thanks for a nice stay!"

"Great place for a writer's weekend. We couldn't get over how great the cottage was and wonderfully decorated. The owners were fabulous, making sure we had everything we needed. We would gladly return for another getaway. So much fun, cozy and comfy."

"We are just finishing the week of July 19th and are sad to be leaving. This home is absolutely beautiful and the owners who live nearby do everything possible to maintain this lovely property and to make your stay delightful. Our family of 3 generations stayed here and from the grandparents to the youngest 2 year old, we all loved our stay. I don't think you could find a nicer home for a summer vacation. It is close to the state park, the marina and to downtown Holland.
The owners go the extra mile to make sure you enjoy their home and your vacation. Even the bikes are very nice. Thanks Bruce and Vicky for a pleasant stay at your rental home and we hope to be back next summer!"

"The Sandpiper Cottage is very well appointed and cozy and the location is perfect. The beachfront is gorgeous and uncrowded and it never felt as though we were sharing the space with the owners or guests from the other cottages. We had GORGEOUS views of the sunset and lovely bonfires around the fire pit every night.
The photos accurately represent the rooms, the decor and the scenery. The beds are full sized beds, not queens and they do fill up nearly all the space in the bedrooms with no additional floor space for an air mattress. I would recommend the cottage for a party of 4, rather than 6, as the third sleeping area is the roll-out sofa in the living room. The living room is the area shown in the photos and the sofa bed is also the only sofa so it's not ideal for use as a third bedroom all the time. The sofa bed is best for a one-time overnight guest or small children.
We had a party of 6 adults and had no problems sharing one bathroom as it is a nice size. The kitchen is well stocked with cooking utensils and is laid out well for several people to be working in it at once. This is really a place to spend time in the outdoor spaces and on the private beach, though, as it is very small. It rained one day during our trip and it was hard to share such intimate space with 6 adults, however 2 couples could be completely comfortable.
We are a late night group and we were very lucky the neighbors in the Evergreen Cottage never complained. I would recommend larger groups (or potentially loud groups) also reserve the Evergreen Cottage for the additional space and privacy. Loading in groceries is not super easy, but if you are wearing the right shoes the walk is not that bad. There is ample firewood on site for evening camp fires and the garbage and recycling are emptied daily, which is a nice feature as I have stayed at other properties that offered no firewood or trash service.
The one thing guests should prepare for is the lack of internet or cell phone service. Although not a rustic cabin, the location IS remote and we had no cell phone or internet service the entire stay. Some cell service could be acquired at the end of the driveway but for most internet usage we had to drive about a half a mile to the Red Rooster Tavern to try to get a signal. Anyone needing to work while on vacation should plan ahead for this.
This is a great place to relax and unplug and enjoy the beauty of a Michigan Summer."
