  • Close to everything!

"We rented this cottage for a girls getaway weekend and we're totally impressed. It's the perfect location if you're looking for a place to have everything you need within walking distance. It's located one block behind the Tip a Few Tavern and two blocks from the Kirby house. We love the back porch and the large dining room table was perfect for playing games. The kitchen was well stocked and felt just like home. The owner was quick and responsive with all of our questions and the cottage was priced fairly. I would highly recommend this great rental."

  • Wonderful vacation

"We had a great time at the cottage. The cottage was clean and spacious with a lot of games to play. The pontoon boat was the perfect addition. We were on the lake everyday fishing and swimming. Thanks Kevin and Patti!"

  • relaxing vacation cottage

"We had a wonderful time at the Captains Cottage. It was very cozy and clean and nicely decorated. You can tell that it is well taken care of. It was a perfect spot for our family. We enjoyed sitting out back and watching the boats and our little girl loved playing in the sand. We also took a charter fishing trip on the Evolution which was one of the highlights of our trip. Sorry Trisha for the delay in posting a review but we have been working like crazy since we got back home. We thoroughly enjoyed this cottage and it was not a far drive to the beach or downtown Grand Haven. We would definitely come back again."

  • A wonderful place to get away from it all!

"My husband and I had a great time in this delightful cottage! It's small, but not too small - the perfect size for just the two of us and our little dog. It's very well maintained and clean. We had lots of privacy, too. We practically had the beach to ourselves the whole time. There were a few people on the weekend, but during the week I took a very long walk on the beach all by myself and I didn't see another person the whole time. The beach is beautiful and we did go swimming on sunny days even though the water was cold! My husband enjoyed playing golf at a couple nearby courses and we had fun going to Muskegon State Park (just a few miles down the road) for hikes in the woods. In late September the sun sets by 7:30 but we managed to enjoy the evenings watching movies on the DVD player. There are plenty of restaurants within a 20 minute drive if you don't feel like cooking, but the kitchen has everything you need to prepare a meal. My only issue with the cottage was the sliding screen door was a bit difficult to slide and the screen was just starting to rip along the edge - there are a lot of mosquitos so intact screens are essential! Remember to pack the bug spray if you plan to spend any amount of time in the woods - the breezes on the beach blow all the bugs away! The steps to the beach are pretty steep so they might be difficult for an elderly or really out of shape person. I will definitely consider returning to this lovely, cozy, clean, pet-friendly cottage!"
