  • Our stay July-september 2013

"We stayed at the house for about 6 weeks, July through Sept 2013,and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. First the owners were very, helpful, friendly and met us when we first arrived. They covered things that we needed to know about the house and the surrounding area. It was a good indoctrination. The house was immaculate when we arrived and provided everything we needed for our six week stay. While there we enjoyed frequent walks to the channel and beach which were just a few minutes away. Fishing was doable off the channel wall and the beaches were still beautiful, just the way we remembered them. While walking to and from the channel, we were amazed at all the wildlife that we saw including a great number of deer. We also saw deer all the time in the front and back yards of the house. The back yard worked out great for us with the fire pit and the use of the grill. We had our local families over for a Labor Day cookout and it was perfect. As a bike rider I enjoyed riding the roads nearby. A good ride was a ride up to Montague to the Hart-Montague bike trail trailhead.(Ice Cream store). The Hart-Montague trail is 22 miles one-way from the trailhead and the trailhead is about 5 miles from the house. A good ride for me was to ride from the house to the trailhead (ice cream) then to just north of New Era (Ice Cream store), and then back via the same trail (and ice cream stores). We used the house for our headquarters and branched out with visits (among others) to Mackinac Island, Niagra Falls, and the Gerald Ford Presidential Museum and the Meyer Gardens in Grand Rapids. The location of the house was ideal for all these jaunts. We were told that the house had no cable or wireless internet access and could only get some TV channels on-the-air. However, this presented no problems for us as we were able to access the internet through the 3g/4g on our tablets and phones. We were pleasantly surprised at the TV reception. We were able to watch up to 33 different TV channels depending upon the strength of the different signals due to the daily weather conditions. We really enjoyed our stay in the house and plan to return in the future"

  • Southern California visitor

"We have stayed on Lake Macatawa many times but had never stayed on Lake Michigan. We loved the location, we loved the cottage and all that it offered us. We would reccomend it to anyone and hope to have a chance to return to this same cottage again. The views, the cottage itself, the kitchen, and the cottage owner were all fantastic. The only issue I should mention was the walk to the cottage from the parking lot and the stairs leading up to the cottage. These issues would not be suitable for an elderly person nor anyone with a disability."

  • Awesome , relaxing, nostalgic paradise

"We went here for our Team Bonding and strategic sales meetings and it was a very desirable, relaxing, unique location on Lake Michigan, There is plenty of room for a large group and within walking distance of good food, beach walks, lighthouse, and much more. Highly recommended for a getaway location!"

  • Great location in Grand Haven

"We have a short weekend stay at this condo. The very best thing about it for us was being right by the water, and sitting out on the patio. We thankfully had beautiful weather, and spent both evenings next door at the Holiday Inn's Tiki Bar! It was wonderful watching the sunsets over the water and seeing the boats come and go. The bike/walking trail system around there is great and takes you right into the downtown area, although that took a little figuring out. We were able to bring our bikes, but you can probably rent them nearby. We walked on the boardwalk next to the condo at sunrise and sunset and it was stunning. The parking for the condo is very close to the front door and is covered. The condo appeared clean and the bed was comfortable. The only thing lacking in the condo was kitchen supplies for cooking, which for our weekend, didn't matter…but if someone is staying for a week and wants to cook their meals, there probably aren't enough pots/pans/supplies for that. We do recommend going to the Kirby restaurant downtown and sitting on their top deck which was sunny and had a fun vibe and great view. Food at the Holiday Inn was good as well with great view and friendly servers, and even if not in the Tiki Bar, they have a very large outdoor deck with musicians some nights."
