  • Relaxing weekend at King's Cottage!

"What a wonderful place to relax for the weekend! I met my sisters and there husbands at the cottage for the weekend, and we did what we love to do...talk, eat, and sight see. I would recommend King's cottage for anyone that would love to just relax and recharge. There is a lot to do in the area, and more then we could do in one weekend. The owner keeps you informed, and makes the check in process easy. If you get the chance I would recommend Pipers Restaurant...great food!"

  • Wonderful house!

"What a great house for a big family or extended family! Bedrooms: 5 bedrooms, including the great kids' room, complete with loft. Master bedroom is large and very comfortable! There is a second smaller master bedroom downstairs as well. The other 2 bedrooms both have twin beds. Bathrooms - 4 bathrooms - 2 with showers (one with a wonderful rain shower head) One bathroom has a very nice Jacuzzi, which got a lot of use! Kitchen - the kitchen is very nice; upscale appliances, any dish, pot pan, utensil, etc. that you can think of. A nice table that holds around 7-8 people comfortably plus some bar stools by the counter. The kitchen opens into the... Dining Room - large table that holds 12 people. A must for a large family vacation. Fireplace. Living room - comfortable with large tv and gaming system. Fireplace in living room. 2 large couches, perfect for chatting or playing games on the coffee table. Upstairs family room area - we loved this room!! Books and games, just a great casual area, has window seat that easily accommodates 2 adults, with their tea and books. Also has two comfortable chairs for sitting as well. A nice place to be by yourself but because it's right above the living room, you still feel like you are part of the "action." Beach - the beach is wonderful! There were 4-5 beach chairs in the living room closet. We loved the "singing sand" of Lake Michigan and what a nice beach to just relax and enjoy the view. The water temps were very cold, but that didn't stop my 12 yo from going in. The sand is very soft and the views are beautiful. The Castle - small lending library open to guests. Plus it's a Castle, how cool is that? A nice walk from the house. The house is not close to any other homes, which gives you great views and a lot of privacy. The owner will email you a large document of directions, instructions, etc. Any question we had about anything that week was answered in there. Especially pay attention to the directions; it's a little tricky at the end and her directions were invaluable. Do NOT plan to arrive after dark; you don't want to be driving that road for the first time at night. The owner was also very responsive throughout the whole process. If we were ever back in the area we would love to come back!"

  • Very Enjoyable

"We arrived with my (aging) parents for a week. My brother and his wife joined us for the first weekend. The cottage was well equipped and spotless. Very convenient to the private beach and a short walk to a very good waterfront restaurant and bar. A short drive to a nice small market and ten minutes to downtown. Rosie (Don) and Jane were wonderful hosts, very helpful with recommendations and prompt in responding to questions. The only downside was the climb from the parking area to the house and then up the steps to the bedroom. It would have been fine with carry-ons but was tough with heavy suitcases and coolers. I'd stay here again in a flash, but would pack lighter. Also, I think if all six of us had been there the whole time having only one shower would have proven inconvenient. For four it was fine, and it would work great for a family with kids. Overall a great vacation spot."

Holland Travel Tips

Holland Vacation Rentals

Have you ever wanted to visit Holland? To see the amazing Dutch architecture and eat the wonderful Dutch cuisine? For most of us, the plane ticket alone would be more than we could afford, but there is a way to see Holland without a plane trip over the ocean . . . or a passport.

Holland in Our Own Backyard

Holland, Michigan was settled in 1847 by Dutch Calvinist separatists, and that Dutch influence lives on today in many ways, including the Holland Museum, which shows the city's history. If you choose to visit Holland in May, there is an annual Tulip Time Festival, which began in 1930. But whatever you decide to do in this beautiful city, make sure you figure out the Holland lodging first. You wouldn't want to be stuck in a small hotel room—especially if you are going to take your whole family. One possible solution to the hotel room is Michigan lake houses. These gorgeous vacation rental properties have all the amenities that you find at home including a full-sized kitchen and multiple bedrooms—a must if you have kids who need to be separated for your own sanity.

Holland Can Also Make for a Great Romantic Getaway

Or, if you want to leave your kids behind, Holland would make for a fabulous romantic getaway for just you and your sweetheart. There are vacation homes available on VRBO.com in all shapes and styles. Instead of a large home with many bedrooms, look into a small home that is just big enough for the two of you. Cook a romantic dinner and eat by candlelight. Sit out on the deck watching the sunset as you sip wine. You can even get a bungalow with a hot tub. Whatever would make your romantic weekend perfect, you can find in a vacation home.
