  • Comfy, Charming, Private Cottage

"Not going to lie, renting some random cottage for a whole week was not my idea of the ultimate vacation . . . we work hard, get one week away each year and I expect that week to include poolside service and housekeeping. I was not a willing participant in this particular get away! Long story short, this property was so fantastic, we have already booked our week for 2014 at this same property. This is a clean, comfy, secluded, gingerbread house cottage. I loved EVERYTHING about the place. The property is quiet and private, yet within walking distance to town. The grill is nice, the kitchen is well supplied, and the fire pit is fantastic. The whole family really enjoyed the ample supply of bikes. The bathrooms are super clean, as was the whole cottage. The deck has a huge table for the entire family to gather. The furniture is modern and not yucky old and moldy (like I imagined). OK, so you can tell I'm a little picky, but all I want is a good vacation. Don't hesitate to rent this cottage. I also have to mention, the owner is super responsive - we had to text a couple of questions during our stay and the owner responded quickly. Yes, this is a great place."

  • Wonderful Family Vacation

"We stayed here last summer and everyone had a great time. The owner was very friendly and helpful. Everything was beautiful and well maintained. Beautiful sunsets and long walks on the beach. Our grand kids keep asking if we can go back and I am hoping to return next summer. Best home we have rented!"

  • Amazing

"Went with family and friends for Memorial Weekend, the house is beautiful, clean and specious. Outdoors have a lot of chairs for sitting down, even by the fire place. Awesome view from the back deck, and few minutes from Dunes. Definitely will be back."

  • Clean and cozy getaway!

"We were excited to come to Pentwater, but were blown away once we got here! It was a little difficult to find at first (granted, we arrived late at night and were navigating the single lane road through the woods in the dark), and we did have some delays/errors in communication while trying to book the cabin, but all very minor issues. The first thing we noticed was that the cabin was immaculately clean (amazing)! As we explored the house, we totally fell in love with the character-- the cabin has been in the owner's family for many years, and the place is filled with homemade art and nostalgic touches (we especially love the wall under the stairs with everyone's heights marked over the years). It's furnished with lots of mismatched antiques, and is as cozy as can be. The place is pretty campy and ecclectic, which we loved. The house has a fairly well stocked kitchen, and has a seemingly limitless supply of freshly laundered linens (bath towels/washcloths, beach towels, sheets, blankets, etc). There's some miscellaneous beach supplies on the screened porch, including four very comfortable folding beach chairs (they even have a carrying strap), and a dresser by the door holds a tray of assorted sunscreens and bugsprays. Lots of reading material (very diverse! And lots of books suitable for kiddos), board games, puzzles, ping pong... we've not had a moment of boredom. Although there's lots of neighboring cottages, the woods give you plenty of privacy (as does the fact that the cabin is a bit uphill from the other near dwellings). Everyone mostly keeps to themselves, but seem friendly. The "neighborhood" is very dog-friendly-- almost everyone seems to have dogs with them at the beach. We brought two of our own, and they've loved it here. The beach is exceptionally beautiful, and the path down to the water is very pretty. (It's worth noting there are no stairs, so the trip back up the slope and over the fairly steep sand dunes could be difficult for anyone with leg/back pain or mobility issues). The water is ridiculously clear- you can see down to the bottom as far out as you can swim. We've done quite a bit of beach running, and some of our group have gone mountain biking. The town is charming (especially the local history museum!) and has lots of tasty restaurants. Plenty to do here! Our stay is only half-over, and we're already looking forward to coming back next summer!"
