"Three of us stayed at the cottage on Reeds Lake. We are on a tour with a show travelling around the country, so have stayed in many places.. This was one of our favorites! Exactly as described and pictured, beautifully clean, cosy and the bed for which I speak (master bedroom) was incredibly comfortable. Loved having a fireplace in the kitchen. And we even made it out onto the lake for a quick spin in the pedlo, despite the cold! I would highly recommend staying here. Dani"

"We are so happy we discovered Red Cottage, it was perfect! Super clean, well stocked with everything from napkins to firewood. The lake access is sandy-bottomed, wonderful for swimmers, just a short walk from the cottage. We appreciated that it was located on a quiet back street. The sunroom was a plus, pleasant to use for games. Though we didn't rent the pontoon, we enjoyed swimming from it and just relaxing there. The owners are so congenial and helpful. Truly an outstanding property."

"We stayed in June and experienced a wonderful relaxing vacation. We visited with our adult children and parents. Quiet, peaceful, beautiful. The house was clean and well stocked with everything we needed. We used the kayaks and the canoe, we walked the beach, we sat for hours outside on the deck overlooking the water. We saw the eagle every day and when hiking to find the lake behind the house, we found it's nest. The hammock was used daily and our kids hung their Moosejaw hammocks in the trees. They had the wood pile well stocked for nighttime campfires. We highly recommend jeep tour at Silver Lake (we used Parrot's Landing) and Pentwater is a quaint place to shop/eat. We loved the privacy and quietness. The owner was easy to contact and work with."

"What a great find! As others have stated the photos don't do it complete justice. The views of the lake from within the house are fantastic! The house was very clean and cozy. We both enjoyed the open floor plan from kitchen to living area for relaxing. One can just sit on the couch and stare out onto the lake enjoying the view through the magnificent windows that cover the entire living room. The bathrooms were spacious and clean. The owner's sister and husband were just as gracious as could be in welcoming us. My husband and I always prefer off-season privacy, so were happy to have the seclusion of the snow and cold as company. Muskegon State Park is just up the pike and made for great walks on the trails with the dogs. It was only a short trip to Grand Haven to enjoy a day of after Thanksgiving shopping as well.
Our only recommendation would be to have a working fireplace. We were a tad disappointed, though I'm sure the bulk of rentals are in the summer when this wouldn't be noticed. And, I'm sure it's a matter of taste, but we found the main bedroom queen bed to be on the far side of needing replacement--a little on the mushy side. We ended up switching to the twin bedded room for a more peaceful night's sleep.
Between the location, cleanliness, accommodation of the owners and price, this is a definite do-over for us!"
