  • Sunsets and walks on the beach

"We were looking for a quiet lake experience, and we found it here. The cottage was great, but, for us, the highlight was the perfect location. We enjoyed walks on the beach, morning coffee and evening sunsets on the deck, and drives through the country. The kids loved playing in the waves, showering outside, and climbing the dune behind the cottage. Adults appreciated the easy walk to the beach for preschoolers and a child with special needs. We'll be back."

  • Charming and Secluded

"The Sandpiper Cottage is very well appointed and cozy and the location is perfect. The beachfront is gorgeous and uncrowded and it never felt as though we were sharing the space with the owners or guests from the other cottages. We had GORGEOUS views of the sunset and lovely bonfires around the fire pit every night. The photos accurately represent the rooms, the decor and the scenery. The beds are full sized beds, not queens and they do fill up nearly all the space in the bedrooms with no additional floor space for an air mattress. I would recommend the cottage for a party of 4, rather than 6, as the third sleeping area is the roll-out sofa in the living room. The living room is the area shown in the photos and the sofa bed is also the only sofa so it's not ideal for use as a third bedroom all the time. The sofa bed is best for a one-time overnight guest or small children. We had a party of 6 adults and had no problems sharing one bathroom as it is a nice size. The kitchen is well stocked with cooking utensils and is laid out well for several people to be working in it at once. This is really a place to spend time in the outdoor spaces and on the private beach, though, as it is very small. It rained one day during our trip and it was hard to share such intimate space with 6 adults, however 2 couples could be completely comfortable. We are a late night group and we were very lucky the neighbors in the Evergreen Cottage never complained. I would recommend larger groups (or potentially loud groups) also reserve the Evergreen Cottage for the additional space and privacy. Loading in groceries is not super easy, but if you are wearing the right shoes the walk is not that bad. There is ample firewood on site for evening camp fires and the garbage and recycling are emptied daily, which is a nice feature as I have stayed at other properties that offered no firewood or trash service. The one thing guests should prepare for is the lack of internet or cell phone service. Although not a rustic cabin, the location IS remote and we had no cell phone or internet service the entire stay. Some cell service could be acquired at the end of the driveway but for most internet usage we had to drive about a half a mile to the Red Rooster Tavern to try to get a signal. Anyone needing to work while on vacation should plan ahead for this. This is a great place to relax and unplug and enjoy the beauty of a Michigan Summer."

  • Late summer getaway

"Place was great. Very clean with updated appliances. It made for a great week for me and my family. It was our first time to this area, and it was worth it. My only complaint (and it's minor) is that we weren't allowed to park in the condo garage but instead had to use public parking which was inconvenient. I still rate as excellent but people should be aware."

  • Relaxing weekend at King's Cottage!

"What a wonderful place to relax for the weekend! I met my sisters and there husbands at the cottage for the weekend, and we did what we love to do...talk, eat, and sight see. I would recommend King's cottage for anyone that would love to just relax and recharge. There is a lot to do in the area, and more then we could do in one weekend. The owner keeps you informed, and makes the check in process easy. If you get the chance I would recommend Pipers Restaurant...great food!"
