Overview of Michigan Vacation Rentals
Getting to Michigan Vacation Rentals
The main travel hub in Michigan is the city of Detroit. The airport hosts regular commercial flights with most other major cities in North America. This will be your choice of flight routing if you are visiting Lake Erie vacation rentals, Lake Huron vacation rentals or northeastern shore of Lake Michigan. If you are going to be staying on the southwestern shoreline of Lake Michigan, the closer airport would be Chicago. From Chicago, there are good road and rail links all the way up the coast of Lake Michigan. If you are visiting the more remote far northern part of Michigan that lies between Lake Superior and Lake Michigan, the closest major airport is Minneapolis St. Paul. From there, you can get a connecting flight to Duluth or simply drive the distance up to your vacation destination.
Visitors to Michigan Lodging
Michigan is a great family destination. The lakes provide hours of family fun and entertainment in the summer months. In the wintertime, there is a wide variety of winter snow sports to keep everyone entertained. Michigan is also a destination for nature lovers. It is a popular destination for mountain bikers. There are literally miles of trails through the hills and forests. Choose from wide Jeep track and forest roads to more challenging single-track forest trails. There are also numerous hiking trails that traverse the landscape, providing scenic views and great photo opportunities.
Home Comforts at Michigan Lake Houses
Michigan has coastlines that run along four of the five great lakes. The longest stretch of coastline is along the eastern and northern shores of Lake Michigan. The southern areas that are close to the cities of Chicago and Detroit are the most popular vacation destinations. Here you can find a wide range of vacation homes available for long-term and short-term rentals. As you travel further north, the villages and towns become smaller and more rural. Here the vacation homes are typically rustic log cabins tucked away among the trees on the shoreline. In almost all areas, you will find the vacation homes spacious. Many are designed to cater to large families or groups of friends. Those located on the lake shoreline often have private docks where guests can moor their boats for the duration of their stay. Kids can fish from the shoreline and there is usually loads of lawn space to enjoy ball games. Spacious living areas are usually designed around fireplaces so there is somewhere to congregate in the evenings. Many of the houses have outdoor decks and barbecue facilities so you can enjoy eating under the stars during the warmer summer months.
Seasons to Visit Michigan
Michigan is a scenic state that is tucked between the great lakes. Much of the weather is affected by the winds and storms that blow across the lakes. During the winter months, the temperatures are typically below freezing. Snow blizzards occur frequently and parts of the lakes often freeze over. While some people may think that this type of weather is only good for snuggling up indoors with a mug of hot chocolate and a good book, many people live for the snowy weather when they can enjoy a variety of snow sports. For these people, December to April is their favorite travel season. In the summer months, the lake's shoreline comes alive with the activity of family vacations. Kids have great fun out on the water as they enjoy a variety of summer activities. For boating and fishing enthusiasts, this is the favorite season to travel. Peak season is typically from June to August.
