  • Perfect Northern Retreat

"Wonderful lake setting, gracious owners, a spacious pontoon boat and excellent accommodations made for a fantastic week at The Carriage House on Gull Lake. We look forward to returning again next year."

  • Beautiful log cabin

"The holiday resort lake house is absolutely fabulous. It is spacious, clean and well maintained. There are three flat screen tv's, a stereo sound system and a washer and dryer. The rental process is straight forward with no hidden cost or fees. The owners are available if you need them but unobtrusive. We had a wonderful stay and will rent the place again. It can easily sleep twelve people and their is plenty of space to move around. I highly recommend this rental. Btw we saw three eagles during our stay."

  • A perfect retreat (once again!)

"This was our third (3-night) stay at this fabulous lake home retreat. Once again, everything was sheer perfection for our 3-generation family-of-6. We arrived to the spotless lake home, with a delicious apple pie awaiting us. Each person got their own room (all beds are comfortable), so plenty of personal space, as well as ample shared spaces. There are three levels, with a full bathroom on each, a billiards room--where we compete each night, a screened-in, and an open deck, overlooking the lake. There is an open, airy feel to the home, with lots of natural light streaming in the skylight, and many windows. The stone (gas) fireplace adds a coziness in the mornings and nights. Each day, we spotted (and heard) four loons, and spent time on the water near them, (on a rented kayak, canoe, and pontoon boat). We enjoyed 2 bonfires (s'mores! no mosquitoes!) and experienced (from the front row!) one of northern Minnesota's quickly-passing, dramatic, lightening storms over the lake. My niece delighted in the nearby Wilderness Resort's indoor swimming pool (a short walk; $7/day), and games room. Joel and Shelley are the best hosts you can imagine. So thoughtful and genuine, and they know the area well. They will happily answer any questions you may have about the property, weather, activities in the area, etc."

  • Fabulous cabin, neighbors too close

"We had such an amazing weekend. We found the cabin to be clean, functional, and really cool. Unfortunately we were too noisy for the neighbors by having 10+ people around the fire pit. The owner was very polite and patient while we got volume under control. With everybody celebrating indoors with windows and doors closed, we had a great time quietly enough. It was a bit of a shame being at a cabin in a beautiful area and staying indoors in nice weather."
