  • Beautiful! Pictures don't do it justice!

"We rented the main house and boat house for 4 days while we were in the area for a family wedding. The house is huge! I looked it up on zillow and it's like 7000 sq ft. Immaculate condition. It was much nicer than we were expecting based on pictures. The master bedroom is amazing. They have two of anything you could possibly need in the kitchen. Yard is open and very clean. It was too cold for us to swim, but beach would be perfect for swimming with a nice sandy beach and shallow water for young children to play in. Owners must be super techs because every room has a nice TV set up. I give this 5 stars without hesitation. Frankly I think it's pricing is under the market value of what they could be charging for a place like this. The only cons were that there is a massive deck that is under construction. It's was still very "clean" looking outside even though deck was clearly being built. Also there was a square hole in the basement that had plywood over it in the basement. I think they might have removed an in ground hot tube or something. Anyway, it was the only thing that made the basement seem unfinished. I perceived it as dangerous to walk on because the boards seemed springy and I was a littled worried about someone falling through. Owners are very straight forward and business like in their interactions with you. Lastly, while they didn't charge us for anything, the owners wanted a credit card on file for unlimited damages rather than taking a traditional deposit. I thought this was obsessive, but the owners were very straight forward and responsive to deal with. They don't leave you to wonder about anything. You will know exactly what your responsibilities are and what theirs are. All in all a wonderful experience and beautiful property."

  • A perfect retreat (once again!)

"This was our third (3-night) stay at this fabulous lake home retreat. Once again, everything was sheer perfection for our 3-generation family-of-6. We arrived to the spotless lake home, with a delicious apple pie awaiting us. Each person got their own room (all beds are comfortable), so plenty of personal space, as well as ample shared spaces. There are three levels, with a full bathroom on each, a billiards room--where we compete each night, a screened-in, and an open deck, overlooking the lake. There is an open, airy feel to the home, with lots of natural light streaming in the skylight, and many windows. The stone (gas) fireplace adds a coziness in the mornings and nights. Each day, we spotted (and heard) four loons, and spent time on the water near them, (on a rented kayak, canoe, and pontoon boat). We enjoyed 2 bonfires (s'mores! no mosquitoes!) and experienced (from the front row!) one of northern Minnesota's quickly-passing, dramatic, lightening storms over the lake. My niece delighted in the nearby Wilderness Resort's indoor swimming pool (a short walk; $7/day), and games room. Joel and Shelley are the best hosts you can imagine. So thoughtful and genuine, and they know the area well. They will happily answer any questions you may have about the property, weather, activities in the area, etc."
