  • Rustic Retreat stole our hearts

"My mother and I stayed at Haven Lane Cabin and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The owners explained that it was the first cabin on the lake (built in the 20's) with some nice additions -- screened-in sleeping porch (wish we'd used it more) and a 3 Season porch overlooking the lake. Our favorite parts: daily visits by 14 year old dog, Tucker, view of the lake through the trees, proximity to town- far enough away for seclusion but close enough for an ice cream run, the couch on the 3 Season porch, and the numerous windows that open to catch the breeze and bring in the lapping water and Loon calls. We thought it important that people know it's rustic - this place is for those seeking cozy nostalgia in a vintage Minnesota cabin, and who will embrace mismatching dishes and furniture and a creak in a door or floor. We loved this place for what it was- a step back in time and a respite from the hustle and bustle. We cooked and ate on the porch, snuggled up in blankets and read on rainy days and took day trips to Crosslake and shopped for antiques. Crosslake is very nice and has everything you could need (I forgot all my toiletries and had to restock). It's nice that the owners, Jon and Kate were just next door if we needed anything - casual and friendly owners who didn't mind if we had Tucker stay for a couple hours. :) Many, many thanks for a great stay."

  • A wonderful week with family at the lake

"This is the second time we spent a week at this cabin and we had a wonderful time again. The swimming beach and sandy bottomed lake were wonderful. We swam with our 7 year old twice a day. The yard is huge and flat with a great view of the lake. We would absolutely recommend this cabin to anyone looking to spend a week at the lake."

  • Wonderful Weekend

"We just spent three glorious days at this rental. The townhouse is lovely, clean and comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped with a Jenn-air range and good sized frig. We also had a charcoal grill. The golf course is right across the road and there are plenty of places to ride bikes. Thank you Steve and Joan for sharing your beautiful townhouse."

  • Great Location for Family Fun!

"This was our second year in a row staying at DeeSide. It is a great place for families to stay because it has so much room to spread out. We are a small family (2 adults/2 kids & dog) so we didn't need all the bedrooms but the guest house with the pool table, foosball table and dart board is perfect for those rainy afternoons. The beach is an easy walk and it is great having the owner's boat available to use. The other great part is the fire pit. We love sitting out there roasting marshmallows and relaxing after a day on the water. There is also a washer/dryer in the basement which makes it so much nicer that you don't have to pack a ton of extra clothes because you can do a quick load of laundry if you need to. The location is spectacular because it is right on the WhiteFish chain so you can access all the other lakes through the channels. It is not far from the grocery store and all the places you need to get a bite to eat if you don't feel like cooking yourself. We loved staying there with the kids and highly recommend it for families with kids (>5yrs old so they can walk to the beach). Great stay every year and the owner is always very responsive with any needs you have while you stay."
