"This was our 2nd time here and again such an awesome vacation and so different. We had the whole island to ourselves as these are the only cabins on the island, which is large. We hiked around the island, saw a bald eagles nest, saw some newborn fawns, saw some eagles, some giant pine trees, it was like being in the wilderness. But then could hop in our boat and go to some great restaurants but mostly liked to just hang on the deck and relax. Great swimming and fishing off the dock too."

"I grew up going on summer vacations to various lakes throughout northern Minnesota and wanted to introduce my family (wife, 13 and 10-year-old) to the experience for the first time. I spent a significant amount of time looking through all options in the area and spoke to several other homeowners prior to choosing this home. In addition, I have utilized VRBO several times previously. This is a first-rate place to stay and I highly doubt one could find a better choice in the area - my family loved it. It's an absolutely beautiful home in a great location. You walk right out to the lake rather than having to go up and down large stairs. We loaded up at a store before our arrival and cooked many meals and never once experienced a shortage of pans, utensils, blenders, etc. In addition, they had a pantry with basic items in case we had forgotten anything at the store. This is not common with VRBO homes; but came in super handy. It was easy to replenish items the next time we went to the store. It’s a quiet place with very friendly neighbors. We rented a pontoon that easily was tied up to the dock when not in use. We also utilized the fishing rods and fished with the kids right off the dock. They had a blast catching them. The owners also provided some water sport equipment that was thoroughly enjoyed by the family. Another intangible item that this owner provided was a multi-page list covering everything about the house and surrounding area. A great list of restaurants with comments on each, places to shop and visit. I checked in with David a couple times during our stay asking a question or two and he was extremely prompt and helpful with his replies. Plus we always had his cell number if we needed something. We slept as good or better on the beds than we typically do at home. We highly recommend this VRBO home and will absolutely be returning to it the next time we plan a trip to the area."

"Lake Pointe Lodge was an absolutely awesome experience. Our family has spent the last two years in August at this wonderful lodge. We were a family of 15 and could not have asked for a more accommodating facility to house our entire family. It has absolutely everything you need to make your family vacation a spectacular event. It has everything away from home that you need. However, we could not control the weather but we had fun anyway. It is equipped with everything you need. A real luxury away from home. Our grandchildren enjoyed every minute. Our granddaughter said "it is so beautiful and I wish we could stay here forever". We look forward to returning soon. Take a chance and enjoy this luxury home."

"Walhall Retreat was perfect for our family of four. Sometimes when you go on vacation, I find that it takes a day or two to truly let your hair down and relax. Not here! We were able to find much-need relaxation as soon as we arrived. The cabin is well cared for and well-loved. It oozes history, family, love and years of laughter and memories. We live a few states away and weren't sure which of Minnesota's lakes to pick and from there, which house. Well..we happened upon a real gem.
The cabin is cozy so if you are looking for a sprawling place, this may not suite your needs. It was just right for us and had that "throw back" feel that we gravitate toward in a cabin. They have thought of everything - lots of hooks for towels and clothes; a clean/refurbished bathroom; reading nooks with good lighting; shelves filled with books in case you forgot yours; fishing nets; a "Viking Trail" scavenger hunt for kids; and much much more. Our kids loved the loft sleeping area and we loved the separate breezeway off the kitchen for cards after the kids went to bed. If you need/want TV time during your visit, they have you covered. We never turned it on. Between morning walks, games with the kids, fishing all day, trips to Ben's Bait Shop, Larry's Foods and the ice cream shop in town, who had time/interest?!
We recommend that anyone who books here spends a bit of time at the six-lane bowling alley in town and also hits the road to Zorba's on the Lake about 15 minutes way. We do not own a boat and rented "Blue Betty" the fishing vessel for our stay. Again, it was just perfect for our needs. Kurt made sure it was there upon arrival and magically knew when we needed gas.
Can't say enough about our stay here."
