Recent Mille Lacs Lake property reviews

  • Laurie and The Ladies

"There were 4 of us that spent the weekend Feb 18-20th. We loved the location and all of the small homey touches in the townhouse. We had a fire going in the fireplace from the time we walked in until the wee hours of the morning we checked out. The information about the albino deer piqued our interest and curiousity and we did a drive thru in Father Hennepin State Park as part of our outing to Isle and Wahkon. Thank you for sharing your home with us."

  • Great place to stay

"We stayed over the New Years holiday weekend and had a great experience. Condo was very clean and much larger than the pictures show. End unit is also at the end of the entire complex so it is very private. Nice central location on the south side of the lake, lots of ice fishing options within a 10 min drive. We hope to come back again."

  • Men's poker outing

"We had a great time at the Mille Lacs cabin. Everything was as described - clean, roomy, nicely furnished. Front yard with firepit was large and flat, suitable for outdoor games. Large decks were great for relaxing. We would rent again."

  • Fantastic time!

"We stayed here for girls weekend and had a blast. The rental is beautiful with everything you could possibly need. The resort was under construction but we had a great time anyway. The townhome was very cozy and perfect. Dorothy was great to work with and was very accommodating. I will definitely be bringing my family here in the future!"

Mille Lacs Lake Travel Tips

When to Visit Mille Lacs Lake Vacation Rentals

Mille Lacs Lake area is a natural wonderland conveniently located just a 90-minute drive from Minneapolis. The area offers a wealth of attractions year-round and attracts travelers with a diverse range of interests.

Mille Lacs Lake is known as a four-season destination. The summers are warm and balmy and the longer days lend themselves to endless exploring of the surrounding areas. Forest trails are open for biking and hiking and the calm lake waters provide endless hours of boating and fishing. Festivals and special events take place throughout the summer months, creating a carnival-type atmosphere in the region. In the cold winter months, good snowfalls turn the mountain trails into excellent alpine and cross country ski runs. Forest trails are perfect for snowmobiling and when the lakes freeze over, small villages of ice fishing houses pop up.

Comfortable Vacation Homes at Mille Lacs Lake

Mille Lacs Lake cottages provide a wonderful vacation option for families and groups of friends. Ranging from small cozy cabins and villas to large lakeside townhouses, the variety of rental homes means you will be sure to find a home that fits your needs. Comfortably furnished and well equipped, it's like having your own home away from home. Some lakeshore homes have private moorings where you can tie up your boat. Things to Do at Mille Lacs Lake

One of the lake's greatest attractions is its fishing. Famous for its walleye and bass fishing, there are several championship fishing competitions held throughout the year that attract many visitors. Even if you are not one to sit with a rod in your hand, you can still appreciate the beauty of the lake and enjoy a good book while cruising the calm waters. Kayaks and boats are available for rent and you can have great fun exploring the lakeshore on your own. Pack a picnic and find a shady spot under the trees where you can soak up nature's beauty and enjoy the sounds of the birds in the trees above.

The Mille Lacs Kathio State Park is known for its abundant birdlife. Forest songbirds, finches, woodpeckers and marsh birds can be seen when hiking on the forest trails. If you climb to the top of the observation tower, you can get a spectacular view of the surrounding area. Keep an eye out for deer and beaver; they tend to be shy of humans and it's a real treat to be able to see them in the wild. There is also canoe rental available at the park.

The Mille Lacs Wildlife Management Area allows biking and hiking in the summer and fall months. The shaded trails meander through the forests and you can see a wide variety of birds if you keep a sharp lookout. Eagles, hawks and owls are commonly found in the area. Black bears also roam the hills and you need to be cautious of exploring on your own.

Golfers can enjoy a round at one of two challenging 18-hole golf courses at the Izaty Resort. This is great alternative for the days when the fish aren't biting. A pro shop and clubhouse provide for all your golfing needs. If you're staying a while at Mille Lacs Lake cottages, inquire about the family or weekly specials that the club runs from time to time.
