  • Fantastic time!

"We stayed here for girls weekend and had a blast. The rental is beautiful with everything you could possibly need. The resort was under construction but we had a great time anyway. The townhome was very cozy and perfect. Dorothy was great to work with and was very accommodating. I will definitely be bringing my family here in the future!"

  • Excellent

"The cabin is well maintained (on the historic list), the porch is the best feature with multiple windows to let in a nice breeze and protect you from the crazy mosquitos. Lots of fun games were provided along with new HD televisions and a DVD player. The contact, Carrie, was always helpful and a easy to work with. The cabin offered plenty of sleeping space and amenities (2 fridges, updated appliances, washer/dryer, empty lot next door, huge driveway for parking, and propane grill). This place provided everything needed excluding Wi-Fi internet but you can just use your 3G or 4G. The cabin is perfectly located across the street from a golf course, literally next door to a private boat launch (charged 10 dollars a day but the owner Shelby was very nice and rented us a slip for the same price so we didn’t have to bother taking the boat in and out), and only a couple miles from both the casino and other various bars/restaurants/liquor stores/grocery stores/gas stations. Have absolutely zero complaints with this place and would recommend it to everyone. Just be advised that there is only one bathroom if that is an issue with anyone, it was not for us, and that the lake is huge and can be windy and dangerous so boat use is unpredictable. Overall 5 stars!!!!!"

  • Reunion July 4th 2014

"We had 38 people at the resort for 7 days. We rented a toal of 5 townhouses. Our townhouse was voted the nicest and the best location. We enjoyed the dock and swimming are right in front of the townhouse. It was really convient when we forgot something at the beach we just ran back took 2 minutes. We rented a golf cart which made it more convient and fun to travel between all the townhouse's through out the resort. We also decorated the golf cart for the 4th of July Parade at the resort. There were 10 golf carts in the parade and we thought ours was the best. My neices and nephews will always have of wonderful memories of decorating and blowing horns while driving thrpugh the resort. We will defiantly book this townhouse in the future."

  • Great Property during Winter!

"First off, the house is amazing and really reasonably priced during the winter. It’s huge and there’s plenty of room for a people to congregate as one. We loved being able to cook, serve the food and eat all as one group at the table. The view of the lake is wonderful from both upstairs and downstairs. There’s a huge cabinet of games above the fridge in the kitchen. The hot tub was awesome to use in the winter. But as the owner warned us…you have to walk outside to get to the hot tub so your hands/feet can freeze as you’re going back into the house. The ice fishing house that comes with the property is very small. It’s 6 holes and is good for about 3 or 4 people to be in at once. The communication was poor as far as how to get the ice house set up in working order. Make sure you contact the marina in advance (Phil’s Myr Mar Marina) and let them know you want the holes drilled and that you’ll be paying cash for it (about $30). You also need a battery to run the electricity in the ice house (i.e. have lights). During our trip (Feb 2015), you could see the ice house from the main house but needed to use the marina’s roads to access it. Overall, great trip, lots of memories made and we’d love to come back in the summer!"

Mille Lacs Lake area is a natural wonderland conveniently located just a 90-minute drive from Minneapolis. The area offers a wealth of attractions year-round and attracts travelers with a diverse range of interests.

Mille Lacs Lake is known as a four-season destination. The summers are warm and balmy and the longer days lend themselves to endless exploring of the surrounding areas. Forest trails are open for biking and hiking and the calm lake waters provide endless hours of boating and fishing. Festivals and special events take place throughout the summer months, creating a carnival-type atmosphere in the region. In the cold winter months, good snowfalls turn the mountain trails into excellent alpine and cross country ski runs. Forest trails are perfect for snowmobiling and when the lakes freeze over, small villages of ice fishing houses pop up.

Ranging from small cozy cabins and villas to large lakeside townhouses, the variety of rental homes means you will be sure to find a home that fits your needs. Things to Do at Mille Lacs Lake

One of the lake's greatest attractions is its fishing. Famous for its walleye and bass fishing, there are several championship fishing competitions held throughout the year that attract many visitors. Even if you are not one to sit with a rod in your hand, you can still appreciate the beauty of the lake and enjoy a good book while cruising the calm waters. Kayaks and boats are available for rent and you can have great fun exploring the lakeshore on your own. Pack a picnic and find a shady spot under the trees where you can soak up nature's beauty and enjoy the sounds of the birds in the trees above.

The Mille Lacs Kathio State Park is known for its abundant birdlife. Forest songbirds, finches, woodpeckers and marsh birds can be seen when hiking on the forest trails. If you climb to the top of the observation tower, you can get a spectacular view of the surrounding area. Keep an eye out for deer and beaver; they tend to be shy of humans and it's a real treat to be able to see them in the wild. There is also canoe rental available at the park.

The Mille Lacs Wildlife Management Area allows biking and hiking in the summer and fall months. The shaded trails meander through the forests and you can see a wide variety of birds if you keep a sharp lookout. Eagles, hawks and owls are commonly found in the area. Black bears also roam the hills and you need to be cautious of exploring on your own.

Golfers can enjoy a round at one of two challenging 18-hole golf courses at the Izaty Resort. This is great alternative for the days when the fish aren't biting. A pro shop and clubhouse provide for all your golfing needs. If you're staying a while at Mille Lacs Lake cottages, inquire about the family or weekly specials that the club runs from time to time.
