If you climb to the top of the observation tower, you can get a spectacular view of the surrounding area. Keep an eye out for deer and beaver; they tend to be shy of humans and it's a real treat to be able to see them in the wild. There is also canoe rental available at the park.

The Mille Lacs Wildlife Management Area allows biking and hiking in the summer and fall months. The shaded trails meander through the forests and you can see a wide variety of birds if you keep a sharp lookout. Eagles, hawks and owls are commonly found in the area. Black bears also roam the hills and you need to be cautious of exploring on your own.

Golfers can enjoy a round at one of two challenging 18-hole golf courses at the Izaty Resort. This is great alternative for the days when the fish aren't biting.
