"We had the best time staying at the Lakeview cabin for a long weekend with our 2 year old son. We arrived around 9:30 pm on Thursday night and Gene was there to greet us at the door. After we got our little one to bed we wanted to start a bonfire to begin our weekend but quickly realized that we had no paper. Gene disappeared for a minute then returned with a small bundle of newspaper that lasted us through our stay. Thus began a fabulous vacation with the kindest proprietors you could ask for! Gene and Karen simply exude warmth and hospitality and clearly took great pride in their gorgeous property.
The cabin was absolutely adorable and all the furnishings were clean and comfortable. I so appreciated that we were given a *huge* pile of fresh bath, hand and wash towels and the kitchen was stocked with a little bit of everything you need (pots, pans, wine glasses, soap, flatware, drinkware, silverware, etc). Whatever we didn't have we could easily pick up from the grocery store just a few miles down the road.
We spent most of the weekend swimming, lounging on the lawn swing, and cooking out on the charcoal & gas grills provided. We would totally recommend renting the pontoon boat for a spin out on the water. We went out for a mid-morning ride and it was worth every penny because our 2-yr old loved it. We would also recommend stopping by the Spirit Lake Pub and Patio (sit on the outdoor patio if you can!) in Wahkon and ordering their ribs. My husband said the meat practically fell off the bone and he wished he had ordered more. As an added bonus just two storefronts down from Spirit Lake Pub is an ice cream parlor were we picked up dessert (order caramelicious) which topped off the summer night perfectly.
Overall this vacation was absolutely wonderful and if we ever find ourselves in this neck of the woods again we will stay at Stone's Throw without hesitation. This location is wonderful for children of all ages and far, far, far superior than any hotel. We hope you enjoy staying here as much as we did!"

"This was our first year renting this property. IT WAS WONDERFUL !!!! Enough room for all 11 of us. The place was clean, everything provided inside and outside. Lots of games for the kids, great dock, to fish or to jump off, lift for our boat, screen porch, fire pit......
We would recommend this any family that would enjoy relaxing, swimming and fishing !! Will definitely come back another year. Thank you MJ and Lola......"

"We stayed at this property for three nights with our kids, ages 5 and 7. It is a very comfortable place with everything you could possibly need during your stay. It was a quiet unit and is located right on the water. I would recommend this place."

"Walhall Retreat was perfect for our family of four. Sometimes when you go on vacation, I find that it takes a day or two to truly let your hair down and relax. Not here! We were able to find much-need relaxation as soon as we arrived. The cabin is well cared for and well-loved. It oozes history, family, love and years of laughter and memories. We live a few states away and weren't sure which of Minnesota's lakes to pick and from there, which house. Well..we happened upon a real gem.
The cabin is cozy so if you are looking for a sprawling place, this may not suite your needs. It was just right for us and had that "throw back" feel that we gravitate toward in a cabin. They have thought of everything - lots of hooks for towels and clothes; a clean/refurbished bathroom; reading nooks with good lighting; shelves filled with books in case you forgot yours; fishing nets; a "Viking Trail" scavenger hunt for kids; and much much more. Our kids loved the loft sleeping area and we loved the separate breezeway off the kitchen for cards after the kids went to bed. If you need/want TV time during your visit, they have you covered. We never turned it on. Between morning walks, games with the kids, fishing all day, trips to Ben's Bait Shop, Larry's Foods and the ice cream shop in town, who had time/interest?!
We recommend that anyone who books here spends a bit of time at the six-lane bowling alley in town and also hits the road to Zorba's on the Lake about 15 minutes way. We do not own a boat and rented "Blue Betty" the fishing vessel for our stay. Again, it was just perfect for our needs. Kurt made sure it was there upon arrival and magically knew when we needed gas.
Can't say enough about our stay here."
