  • Just right for our week

"We stayed here for Thanksgiving and it was just right. Low-key and charming, this small but well-supplied house met all our needs as we cooked turkey dinner and lots of other meals. The location is near lakes and trails, and is in a sweet neighborhood. We couldn't have found a better place!"

  • Charming St. Paul getaway.

"Lois your house is simply divine. From the location to the decor. I love that Lois pays attention to the special little details in decorating and ...the books!! I was pleasantly surprised to see a lot of the same books I have read myself. It is so cozy and quaint. I had a nice brunch for my girlfriends, Went to a few restaurants around the corner, Ninas cafe and the bookstore. And The French Hen for breakfast. The ambiance was perfect. This may be my new St. Paul home when I am in town. I am planning on renting this home for a getaway gift for my parents for a surprise. Short walk to W.A. Frost for dinner. The main bedroom's bed was like sleeping in a cloud! The was tastefully decorated for Christmas (even on the outside!) My guests fell in love with it as well. Thank you so much...will hopefully be returning soon!"

  • Birthday Celebration

"I cannot begin to tell you how awesome our stay at this "farmhouse" was! I'm sure I'll forget to mention something in this review because there was so much *right* about it! We arrived on the afternoon Friday October 24, 2014 to find a very clean, well-cared for and well-appointed home. On my first walk through, I was in awe of the whole place and by the time I left on Monday morning I was convinced if I lived there I would never leave the property! The pool is a lot larger and deeper than the pictures would suggest. We did not have children in our group, so I cannot speak to any of the possible child safety issues, but it appeared the area could be made secure, if necessary. The outdoor hot tub was incredible, with multiple jets and options to make any sore body feel relaxed! There were plenty of toys and towels, not only by the pool, but throughout the whole house! We found a few closets filled with games, toys, towels, blankets, pillows, toilet tissue, paper towels, and totally unexpected things like jackets to "borrow" in case you forgot yours! Almost the whole property is very private and secluded, despite it's ideal location close to stores (including a Cub Foods & liquor store) and various sights. There's a wonderful lake with a walking trail...that's *if* you tire of the well-tended to yard full of beautiful hostas and a killer fire ring stocked with wood and plenty of seats! On Saturday night we had a dinner party for approximately 15 people. I'm a former professional cook and found the kitchen stocked with almost all the equipment (including coffee maker, blender, crock pot, and a microwave), utensils, and seasonings I could possibly need; making the box of things I brought with me unnecessary! To be honest, we spent very little time in the living room or watching the TV because we were enjoying conversations in groups all over the house, in the hot tub, and around the fire! Our privacy was never disturbed by anyone, which was wonderful! We had three DJ's in our group and had a full sound system setup in the pool area, playing everything from oldies to techno to metal. The only time the music was heard outside of the house was when the sliding door leading from the pool to the hot tub was opened! The whole house is pretty sound proof, which is wonderful when you have some people up late, after others have gone to bed! I can't say enough wonderful things about the house and we certainly will be back! Thank you to Carol and her family!"

  • Awesome!

"This was an amazing place. We couldn't have had a better stay. The house was gorgeous, beautifully appointed, and impeccably maintained....and fully equipped with just about anything you could need. The owners Dirk and Ruth were friendly, warm, and welcoming. It was a fabulous setting for our extended family coming together for our nieces wedding. We loved the beautiful park opposite the house, and the surrounding area of tree lined streets and beautiful old homes....and the bike path along the river. We absolutely would recommend it to friends, relatives, or any one looking for a truly 5 star experience. Michael and Janice and family."
