"We rented the beach house as a place for our family to stay the weekend of our daughters wedding, which took place in Stillwater over Labor Day weekend. It fit our needs perfectly! Besides being a place for us to sleep, it also served as the gathering place for friends and family. The huge dining room table was perfect to complete the last minute diy projects for the wedding but also a great place for a lively game of Spoons for the "cousins". We were able to host approximately 50 people for the rehearsal dinner the night before the wedding, lunch for the wedding party and family the day of the wedding and gift opening the day after the wedding without feeling cramped! We took advantage of the park for games as part of the rehearsal dinner. My husband and son relaxed with some fishing off the pier. The beach house exceeded our expectations and was an important part of a very special weekend. We plan to come back again soon."Guest: The Melaney's Date of Stay: August 2014 Review Submitted: September 12, 2014View listing
"We really enjoyed our stay at this Stillwater home. The owners made us feel very welcome with a basket of treats and several fresh flower arrangements. This is, by far, the most well equipped kitchen we have ever rented. I brought things from home that we regularly use for cooking and didn't need most of them. All our correspondence with the owners was very prompt and helpful, and even though we never met, we felt like friends, not renters. The mornings!!! We, fortunately, had a great week of weather and could take advantage of the deck for our breakfasts and some evening appetizer times with family. The view of the river is subtle, the street quiet and peaceful, the house homey. the only change I would make is a more comfortable mattress/bed for a couple in the second bedroom but I am picky about that. The second bedroom allows for more than two people to stay in it which is an advantage for some families. As someone else said, the distance from the other bedroom made for great privacy. We would love to stay here again and Stillwater is a great town and in walking distance."Guest: KLG Date of Stay: May 2014 Review Submitted: May 29, 2014View listing
"This cabin exceeded our expectations. The cabin was very clean. Beautiful location. The view over the river was amazing. We loved the multiple decks and the amphitheatre. Definitely want to come back. Our four children totally agree. We did not have time to do see and do all the attractions close by. We loved spending time in Stillwater. We could not get over the child size cones at Nelson's Ice Cream. The pizza at Open Fire Pizza was very tasty. Square Lake Park was a great place to swim. The Minnesota Zoo is definitely worth visiting. JT was very helpful in the whole process and providing us with directions to get there. We will recommend this cabin to friends and family. We will be back."Guest: Canadian Friends Date of Stay: August 2014 Review Submitted: August 24, 2014View listing
"This is a nice little out of the way place to relax, but still enjoy the comforts of home, and wifi!!! LOL! Seriously, I loved being able to enjoy nature, but still watch all my Netflix shows."Guest: Doreen M. Date of Stay: September 2014 Review Submitted: October 1, 2014View listing
Stillwater Travel Tips
Stillwater Vacation Rentals Offer a Step Back in Time
A vacation in Stillwater, MN is like stepping back to the gentler era of Victorian charm, with all the advantages of 21st-century amenities, of course. The beautiful St. Croix River Valley is like a forgotten jewel amidst unspoiled wooded hills and river valleys. The downtown district of Stillwater celebrates where Minnesota was born, where famous outlaws were imprisoned and fortunes were made by pioneering lumber workers. The town has some charming antique and gift shops, art galleries and restaurants on Main Street and the oldest surviving courthouse in the state.
Minnesota Vacation Rentals Make the Perfect Homes away from Home
Stillwater cottages and lake homes are the ideal places to spend time in the scenic countryside. Whether you have a group of two or 10, there is a vacation home to suit your needs. Vacation homes make the ideal bases for enjoying a leisurely breakfast before exploring the area each day. Return home each evening to a comfortable bed and warm fire on chilly evenings. The fully equipped kitchen and washer-dryer will be useful and both are big advantages over hotel room amenities. Preparing meals for the family is easy and will save money which can be splurged on extravagances such as a day at the spa or a balloon trip.

The area is known for its wineries and tours of the vineyard can be taken, finishing in the tasting room with samples of the wines.
The lakes provide great summer activities such as swimming, fishing, kayaking and boating. Walleye fishing is popular on the Big Lake Carnelian, one of the cleanest lakes in the state. Hiking, biking and horse riding along the traffic-free trails are great ways to commune with birds and nature. For the less energetic, take a balloon ride over the countryside or relax for a day at a local spa. There are also a number of golf courses in the area.
