  • Great stay; very quiet, clean, lots of room for the 4 of us (two older teenagers), fantastic views!

"My wife said it best; We’ve stayed in many VRBO (VRBO.com) places and this is the first one that made us feel like we were being welcomed into someones home. Listing was very accurate, photo's don't do it justice, we would not recommend to anyone because we want to make sure it's available next year on the dates we are available! :--) I travel a lot for work and am very picky when it comes to hotels. I don’t travel very much for family vacations so I’m even pickier (if that’s a word??). Here’s what I was looking for and found in this lake home on Sea Gull Lake: Quiet: Yes Bedrooms were very quiet. Gunflint Trail is too far away to hear it. I was worried about the public landing up the lake but it wasn’t a problem. No noise and the people exiting and entering the lake are far enough outside this bay you can’t hear a thing/ and big rock outcropping blocking view and noise. Comfortable/clean/enough room: yep, very good here. Beds were comfortable, bathroom and kitchen were great. More than enough room in the dinning room, living room, on the deck and in the screen porch to have a bit of ‘family separation’ if you wanted. The woodwork makes it look like a great lake home, not a sterile hotel room. Easy to get around: nice large parking / driveway area and it was real easy to carry our kayaks down to the dock area. Just up the road were a few outfitters with stores for basic needs (if you didn’t bring them with). Also, they know about the hot fishing areas on the lake. Misc: They have the home nicely decorated, lots of extra’s, kitchen was fully stocked (minus the food), and the #1 thing about this: Location/Location/Location; yes the view alone is worth the money! BTW, we had a very minor problem so we called Judy. She didn’t have an answer so Paul called me right back. We got it solved in a few seconds. Half the call with Judy was her making sure everything else was ok… it was. 90% of the call with Paul was spent talking about great things to do in the area (hiking, fishing area’s, dinning, etc). Very friendly and responsive. THANKS Judy and Paul. Can’t wait to come back."

  • Highly recommend this beautiful home on Lake Superior

"We just returned from a fabulous weekend at this beautiful cabin on Lake Superior. Having recently relocated to the Twin Cities within the last year, our group wanted to explore Northern Minnesota this summer. What a fantastic place to explore the north shore and relax on Lake Superior! Everything was better than we imagined- the home is clean, comfortable, updated, and well stocked. The owner has not missed any details. If you think the photos are appealing, just wait until you see it in person! Everything from the linens to the kitchenware was top of the line. We found the layout to work well for our group- we could be together in one of the many lounge areas (loft, basement, family room) or take some time to relax in each of the bedrooms. The cabin is easy to find and the location provides quick and easy access to many of the parks in the area. Due to time constraints, we didn't stray far, but we would recommend Temperance State Park and Caribou Falls. Remember to bring some bottled water for hikes and outdoor activities- us city folk found the water to taste a little off up north :) The best part of this home is certainly the view- we spent each morning on the back patio enjoying the shoreline views and relaxing. The owner is very accommodating and wonderful to work with. We would highly recommend this home for your next visit Up North!"

  • Peaceful Retreat

"I've been meaning to write a great review of this Boulder Point property. I took my son up for a week last June for a nice quiet week of fishing. The rental was managed by Ely Lodging which was a great experience. The fact that we didn't have any indoor plumbing was not a problem unless you don't like using an outhouse. The authentic lakeside sauna was great after a blustery day on the lake. Burntside itself is a huge lake and pretty easy to get turned around once you come off the North Arm. We got nervous about our fishing chances when at several bait shops they admitted that Burntside was a tough lake to fish. But we did pretty good. My son caught a 26 1/2 inch Walleye on a leech at the very tip of the north arm where it starts to drop off. We caught about six Northerns and tons of rock bass. Back trolling a large minnow on a green or black jig head seemed to be what the Northerns liked. We had no other Walleye besides the one. The outdoor oven/chimney was awesome. We cooked every meal sitting right there admiring the beauty of our surroundings."

  • Perfect Northshore Honeymoon

"We recently stayed here for our Northshore Honeymoon and it was absolutely amazing. The moment we walked into the door we knew this place was perfect and we were going to be able to relax. The kitchen had everything we needed so make dinner each night. The views are amazing and it is a quiet location. Highly recommend and we will be staying here again!"
