  • Fabulous girls' weekend

"We had a group of 8 girls, renting all units. It was a perfect place to relax and enjoy catching up. Very clean and had everything we needed having cooked all but one meal. The deck was wonderful to sit and relax on being able to accomodate all 8. The views and sound of the river are delightful from there. This was my first experience with VRBO and Pete made it a great one. He was very quick to respond to any of my questions. Very polite and courteous demeanor. Our first adventure was split rock lighthouse. This, followed by a Gondola ride and the Alpine slide which are very conveniently located. We are already planning our trip back next year."

  • Everything as described, a quiet getaway!

"What you see in the pictures is what you'll find when you arrive, everything is just as described. Brian is a great host, concerned to make sure everything is as expected - and Hank (the dog) couldn't be any happier to see new friends. The lake is wonderfully peaceful, clear and beautiful - the most boats we ever saw on the lake when we were out other than our own was a grand total of 3. 80% of the shore-land looks like the BWCA or Canada, very remote & wild. The lake is small, but that means less time spent looking for new spots to fish and less gas to burn. We saw bald eagles every day, the loons were there to serenade us, we saw beavers and deer as well. While we didn't set any records with our fishing, we always could catch something (bass and northern pike mostly) and the crappie bite was very dependable every evening. The locals that we met that had places on the lake were very friendly and helpful. Little kids would be able to catch panfish off the dock (little ones) all day long without any problem. There's no cell phone service, no TV, and that's all part of what makes this great. It's a short drive into Marcel for essentials, or an easy drive to Grand Rapids to visit a bigger town with the big box stores. The cabin is small, but it doesn't claim to be otherwise, and we found everything clean and orderly, and well stocked with the essentials. If you are looking for a low tech, relaxing vacation - then you'll certainly enjoy your stay. We would recommend this property to anyone looking for what Brian so accurately describes. If you want something fancy, look elsewhere - but if you are looking for an old fashioned retreat you will enjoy your stay."

  • A piece of Heaven!

"I have stayed at Peace of Pine multiple times now, and this last trip proves yet again why we keep going back. I have stayed here with "the girls" for a weekend of giggles. I have come with my family as a vacation. And I have come with my husband as a romantic getaway alone. And Peace of Pine fits every vacation angle. The cabin is impeccably clean. Well stocked with all the necessities of home. Decorated absolutely adorable with a cozy up-north look and feel. Beds and furniture are so incredibly comfortable and NICE! Lisa (the owner) is friendly, personable, and obviously goes out of her way to make us feel at home and enjoy our stay. I've been lucky enough to enjoy each season up here and there is plenty to do in each one of them.....let alone the gorgeous views!!! The only negative in being here is having to leave when our time is up. Would I recommend Peace of Pine to a friend? You bet I would!!! (and have already). Peace of Pine aka "piece of Heaven" :)"

  • Wonderful Winter Retreat

"We chose the house for its proximity to the north shore and access to winter activities. We planned to downhill and cross country ski as well as snowmobile. Due to the lack of snow, we skied at Spirit Mountain and had a wonderful time. Our group was 3 adults and 6 children ages 16-11. The kitchen and dining area worked perfectly and had plenty of dishes and cooking utensils. The owners really thought about what people would need. With a dishwasher and washer and dryer (soaps provided) it makes it easy to take care of cleaning up. With sleeping areas on 3 floors we were able to arrange sleeping for all comfortably and with privacy. While the weather was cold and windy at night we were cozy inside. The owners were accessible and helpful and just a phone call away. It was a wonderful place to get away. We are fans of the north shore and would love to return to explore summer activities and have a chance to enjoy the deck and beautiful property."
