"I rented this house for a girls get away weekend with 6 other women. This was perfect for our needs - the house was CLEAN, there were enough beds (comfortable beds) for everyone and the three bathrooms were fantastic to have. We never ran out of hot water, and, once we figured out the heating system (three thermostats) had no issue with the heat. I will admit we didn't actually use the kitchen short of the refrigerator and dishwasher (who wants to cook on vacation?!?) but the location was minutes from everything in Canal Park and downtown Duluth. In the morning we took a walk on the beach before heading up to breakfast. What could be better than that?"

"This was our second Thanksgiving in a row at this town home and we hope to be back for more. Our family has been enjoying Thanksgivings in Lutsen for over a decade - so we can make an honest comparison - and this is a very nice unit. It's large enough for 3 families to comfortably spend 4 nights together. I'd agree that the main level living room is a bit small for a group as large as the home can sleep - as others have noted - but it's no different than any other unit of this style in the complex, so definitely nothing to be concerned with. In general the home is great, always prepared for our stay and the kitchen definitely allows for anything that you might want to whip up - including Thanksgiving dinner for a large group. The views are absolutely wonderful and the location within the complex is very convenient. Caribou Highlands is our favorite resort close to the hill, and being so close to the ski hill itself is another added perk. Whether you're skiing, hiking, relaxing by a fire or visiting all of the fun spots up and down Highway 61, this is a great place stay. Add to that the owner is very friendly and easy to work with as well, which is yet another perk of renting this town home. We'll be back and you should stay here too if your travel plans are bringing you to the Lutsen/Tofte area."

"Everything was so amazing with our stay at Cedar Cliff! We hosted our small wedding here and couldn't even imagine a better location. We got married in front of the fireplace with Max Bichel from Grand Marais playing songs my mom composed on the violin. We created so many memories up there, we would love to go back to spend more time in this charming retreat."

HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION! WONDERFUL HOME ON FABULOUS LAKE!
"We have stayed in this Deer Lake home for a number of years and have absolutely fallen in love with the place. I agree with the other reviewer who said it feels like their own home. With its mix of rooms and amenities, indoor and out, it works well for families with children, or groups of adults, individually or in couples. The main house includes four separate bedrooms with bath suites, three of which have newly remodeled baths. And the owners have just added a brand new guest house with two additional bed/bath suites, each with separate entrance. In the main house, there is a good- sized living room with timber framing, high ceiling and stone fireplace. But the heart of the house is the kitchen-dining room with its large bay of windows overlooking the lake. The kitchen has great appliances (two dishwashers!) and is well stocked with cookware and utensils and an array of new and antique tableware. (In fact, the entire house is filled with a collection of antiques that is a treat all on its own.) The kitchen/dining room is one of those comfortable big rooms where you can prepare and serve a meal that feels right for only two people or for a dozen or more (or for dancing while cooking; yes, we actually find ourselves doing this). Right outside the kitchen is a large deck with a big table and umbrella (again, suitable for 2 to 12 people) overlooking the lake. On the other side of the deck is a screen house that provides a great place for daytime lounging or evening activities sans mosquitoes. The house also has a yard, fire pit (with hose nearby), several other decks, and down on the lakefront a sauna, outdoor shower (it is fabulous: I think I have yet to take a shower inside the house) and long dock with a boat lift and THE LAKE. If the house is great, the lake is an absolute marvel. They call Deer Lake the “lake of changing colors.” That sounds like one of those cheesy 1950’s promotional slogans. But in this case it is actually true. Depending on wind and time of day, the surface of the lake does actually alternate between shades of bright blue and luminous turquoise. The water is cool and crystal clear, the bottom sandy; there are bays and islands with deep woods and eagles nests; you can see fish go by below you as you swim. I could go on and on. Bottom line: This is a fabulous home from which to enjoy a fabulous lake."
