"We enjoyed a relaxing (but too brief!) summertime visit to the Horizon house. This is a beautiful, serene, and welcoming property. We found it to be a great base for exploring the region and appreciated learning more about its special history, as well.
Thanks to the Owners for the timely responses to our inquiries, the very helpful info provided, and for allowing us to share in those stunning Lake Superior sunrises!
Safe to say the area and Horizon have four very happy new converts!"

"We thoroughly enjoyed our two night three day stay at Ledgerock. We were able to check in early on Sunday which was great as we arrived earlier than expected. As we entered the home the sun was gleaming across the lake which was breathtaking, everyone hesitated to unpack so as not to miss a minute of it.
The home is very grand and has an enormous amount of room to gather and enjoy each other. The kitchen is very well stocked with all important utensils and pans.
Our small group of 6 will continue to check the availability of Ledgerock for our getaways."

HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION! WONDERFUL HOME ON FABULOUS LAKE!
"We have stayed in this Deer Lake home for a number of years and have absolutely fallen in love with the place. I agree with the other reviewer who said it feels like their own home. With its mix of rooms and amenities, indoor and out, it works well for families with children, or groups of adults, individually or in couples. The main house includes four separate bedrooms with bath suites, three of which have newly remodeled baths. And the owners have just added a brand new guest house with two additional bed/bath suites, each with separate entrance. In the main house, there is a good- sized living room with timber framing, high ceiling and stone fireplace. But the heart of the house is the kitchen-dining room with its large bay of windows overlooking the lake. The kitchen has great appliances (two dishwashers!) and is well stocked with cookware and utensils and an array of new and antique tableware. (In fact, the entire house is filled with a collection of antiques that is a treat all on its own.) The kitchen/dining room is one of those comfortable big rooms where you can prepare and serve a meal that feels right for only two people or for a dozen or more (or for dancing while cooking; yes, we actually find ourselves doing this). Right outside the kitchen is a large deck with a big table and umbrella (again, suitable for 2 to 12 people) overlooking the lake. On the other side of the deck is a screen house that provides a great place for daytime lounging or evening activities sans mosquitoes. The house also has a yard, fire pit (with hose nearby), several other decks, and down on the lakefront a sauna, outdoor shower (it is fabulous: I think I have yet to take a shower inside the house) and long dock with a boat lift and THE LAKE. If the house is great, the lake is an absolute marvel. They call Deer Lake the “lake of changing colors.” That sounds like one of those cheesy 1950’s promotional slogans. But in this case it is actually true. Depending on wind and time of day, the surface of the lake does actually alternate between shades of bright blue and luminous turquoise. The water is cool and crystal clear, the bottom sandy; there are bays and islands with deep woods and eagles nests; you can see fish go by below you as you swim. I could go on and on. Bottom line: This is a fabulous home from which to enjoy a fabulous lake."

"My fiance and I rented the cabin for a week long getaway. The cabin was comfortable and clean. Caught plenty of fish and really appreciated the boathouse as it rained most days we were there. The cabin was close to the public landing and town, Cook, is just a short drive away. The driveway down to the cabin was a little rough but we managed to get in and out. Enjoyed that fact that we were merely 50 ft from the lake and it was relatively level. We had a great time. Thanks for letting us share your cabin."
