"This was a really wonderful place to stay. We loved the lake front view and the great deck. The weather was great so we were out on the deck and the kids could play inside and out. They discovered tadpoles in the pools of water on the rocks and were intrigued with them. The kitchen is great to prepare meals. The competition was on to see who cooks the best meal. We day-tripped to the Gunflint trail where we rented boats and played on the sand beach there. Grand Marais offers a lot with the book store and donut shop and a Ben Franklin and Food Co-op. We like the art galleries and checked out the craft center. We also went to Gooseberry Falls and played in the water and on the rocks. On the way home Lutsen (Alpine Slide and gondola) was a fun stop. We definitely would recommend this home for a lovely vacation."

"My husband and I took a much needed long weekend at this charming log cabin. When you walk in and see right through the windows to the lake it is mesmorizing. The deck on the lake side of the cabin was perfect for our morning tea and at night with a glass of wine watching the Orange sunset. It was absolutely beautiful. The cabin is a true log cabin and I love the vaulted ceilings and open wall design. It was roomy and comfy and the kitchen was perfect for cooking. The grounds are amazing and we had smores, and fires every night and wine as wel. We watched a playful "white weasel" one morning. That was truly a unique one of a kind of experience. Sitting in the chairs by the edge of the cliff looking at Palisade Cliffs was breathtaking. Our cockapoo loved being able to lay in the sun on the deck and he truly enjoyed his stay as well. Only negative is the over salty water for showering, etc. However, that would never deter us from coming again. We loved it. Thank you for a lovely opportunity in sharing your property with us. We loved the black beach in Silver Bay! Thank you Harold and Rae for answering our questions and for keeping up the cabin. J & D - St. Paul"

"We rented mid-summer for a week in July and the weather could not have been more perfect! Sunny and mid 70's every day. We saw one 20 min. rain shower all week. There is so much to see and do on the North Shore, mainly we hiked and visited waterfalls (Cascade, Temperance River Gorge, and Pigeon Falls (up at the border) were the best), although we toured Split Rock Lighthouse, drove up to Grand Marais for dinner at the Angry Trout, and took the mountain tram ride up at the ski resort as well. The appliances looked new and the place was very clean and well kept, we even grilled a couple meals on the charcoal grill provided. This was a great vacation experience for our family, and I would say that if you're vacationing on the North Shore and you don't seriously consider Lutsen Solitude you are doing yourself a disservice. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, we would rent here again."
