"Great cabin with beautiful views of Lake Superior. The cabin is secluded, yet easy to find with Shawn's directions. It was stocked with plenty of firewood and everything we needed. The loft has great views. We used the wood stove a two mornings when it was cool but the heated floor kept it plenty warm in the evenings.
It wasn't really warm enough to make much use of the screened porch, but it's large and would be a much-used space in warmer weather, including as a sleeping porch. The wrap-around deck was a great place to sit and watch the stars and the big ships headed toward Duluth. One nice surprise about the cabin is realizing that Shawn built it - we really enjoyed the books about cabin building and learning how the place came together.
Our late April visit meant nearly empty state parks - and Tettegouche is an amazing place - and so close. We also did day trips to Temperance River and Cascade state parks. We made great use of the book on the shelf with info about great hikes on the North Shore under three miles!
There is a good sized grocery store five miles away in Silver Bay, so no need to bring a lot of food along, you can get what you need nearby.
All in all a very memorable and enjoyable way to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. Thanks!"

"Overall, we had a very nice stay at the cabin on Lake Superior. The location is secluded, making it great for a romantic getaway or some family bonding time. The cabin is right on Lake Superior and you can walk on the rocks right on the water. The cabin is well maintained and clean, but definitely on the rustic side because of the secluded location. It has all the amenities that you need except for cell phone service/wifi--great if you are looking to disconnect. The location is very close to Lutsen and all the activities in the area, and only a 15 minute drive to Grand Marais. It is a little hard to find, but worth it."

"We found the Forest Chalet perfect for our family gathering. The house was clean, spacious, and pleasantly appointed. We greatly enjoyed hiking at the Temperance River and playing on Superior's rocky shore. The stars at night are big and bright. We would love to be able to return another time!"

"We make a point to stay at this great get away at least once a year. We feel so lucky to have found a retreat so well maintained, clean and well stocked. Kayaks, hammock, canoe, fishing boat and a fire pit right on the lake front! We know there are lots of things to do in the area, but honestly...we love it on Eagles Nest so much that we rarely leave the cabin-unless we are in need of more bait of course! Kris and Bruce are super helpful and haven't missed putting us on the fish yet. We are heading back up there today and judging from the weather we will be taking full advantage of the fireplace, sauna and fire pit ! I can't wait to have a week of peace and quiet !"
