"Spent 5 days at this cabin and I can't tell you how wonderful the view is!! You could just sit all day and listen to the birds and watch the lake. The fire pit area is also a wonderful place to relax with family and friends. The beds were very comfortable and the cabin had every thing you could want. We had a great time. Saw a fox and a deer on our stay. Also saw a couple big ships from the deck which was very cool. Thanks so much for sharing your house with us. We plan on coming back again."

"The location at the end of a point allows for a sweeping view of islands and the sunset. Total immersion in nature with Tower five minutes away. With ample room, this cabin accommodated seven of us ages 23 to 58 perfectly. Bedrooms are situated so early risers do not disturb late sleepers. The kayaks were immediately in the water on arrival. The little fishing boat was perfect for my adult children to take out around the islands and nearby bays where they caught walleye, northerns, and bass. We saw eagles and loons right from the dock with a bench that is perfect for coffee in the morning. The deck over the water is a unique feature that was used as a gathering point to string fishing poles, sketch art, enjoy happy hour and sunset dinners. The kitchen was well appointed. My artist son from NY appreciated the photographs, paintings, and ceramic pieces. We made a backyard fire and s'mores almost every night. Original plans to tour the north shore, Soudan Mine, camp on an island and golf all went undone as everyone was pleasantly content and busy enjoying "cabin life" together. Owner was a pleasure to work with. We hope to be back again!"

"We enjoyed the Dog Island cabin very much! It had all the amenities that our family needed. There were 13 of us and we did not have to step over anyone, plenty of room. The view is absolutely gorgeous in all directions. Beds are comfortable and bathrooms are clean and roomy. All we had to bring was food (and plenty of it) and there was plenty of storage. Fun trails for nature lovers or kids at heart! Loved the whole four days even with a touch of rain. It was a little too early for swimming , but the two beaches looked very inviting!! We would go back in a heartbeat!! Thanks Gretchen for all your help in the planning! ~~JK"

"Great cabin with beautiful views of Lake Superior. The cabin is secluded, yet easy to find with Shawn's directions. It was stocked with plenty of firewood and everything we needed. The loft has great views. We used the wood stove a two mornings when it was cool but the heated floor kept it plenty warm in the evenings.
It wasn't really warm enough to make much use of the screened porch, but it's large and would be a much-used space in warmer weather, including as a sleeping porch. The wrap-around deck was a great place to sit and watch the stars and the big ships headed toward Duluth. One nice surprise about the cabin is realizing that Shawn built it - we really enjoyed the books about cabin building and learning how the place came together.
Our late April visit meant nearly empty state parks - and Tettegouche is an amazing place - and so close. We also did day trips to Temperance River and Cascade state parks. We made great use of the book on the shelf with info about great hikes on the North Shore under three miles!
There is a good sized grocery store five miles away in Silver Bay, so no need to bring a lot of food along, you can get what you need nearby.
All in all a very memorable and enjoyable way to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. Thanks!"
