"Clean and comfortable place. Bedrooms had plenty of room. The free laundry was a huge plus. Back patio has a nice place for a fire. Too far from town for my kids to walk."Guest: Woods Date of Stay: August 2014 Review Submitted: August 17, 2014View listing
"My wife and I spent three wonderful days in Grand Marais, staying at the Jackson House, a short walk to everything Grand Marais has to offer. We hope to be back soon."Guest: Anonymous Date of Stay: June 2014 Review Submitted: June 28, 2014View listing
"This house exceeded our expectations. It is more spacious and new inside than we thought it would be. Our group of 14, 8 adults and 6 children, had plenty of room to be together or to spread out. We were pleased to find two washers and two dryers, plenty of kitchen and bathroom supplies, beautiful artwork, and many other thoughtful touches that made us feel we were in someone's home, not just a sterile rental property. The lake location made for many mosquitoes, but we were prepared with spray and bug-shield clothing. The kids loved kayaking and canoeing on the lake. It was still a little too cold for swimming, but we had so much else to do. We visited the towns and state parks along the north shore all the way up to the border as well as playing games inside with the kids. Thanks, Brian and Lisa, for making this house available."Guest: Anonymous Date of Stay: June 2014 Review Submitted: June 23, 2014View listing
"Gibb's House was amazing. We were immediately impressed at the simple, open concept design and Scandinavian furniture. The house was clean, neat and very comfy. Even the in floor heat was wonderful! The house had everything we needed as we did a combination of cooking and, was very conveniently located to the center part of town so dining out was easily within walking distance. Great location and even a bit of a lake view! The table tennis table was an unexpected bonus so bring your A game!"Guest: naturegirl Date of Stay: October 2014 Review Submitted: October 30, 2014View listing
Grand Marais Travel Tips
Grand Marais Vacation Rentals Offer Great Vacations for Outdoor Enthusiasts
Grand Marais is beautifully situated along the northern shore of Lake Superior, backed by the Sawtooth Mountain Range. Grand Marais means "great marsh" and historically this area would have had extensive marshes during the fur-trading era. There is a small bay and natural harbor which no doubt led to the development of the village. Lake Superior is the world's largest freshwater lake, surrounded by rocky shores and with amazing clear waters. Its tranquil summer appearance belies the storms which can blow up and have been the cause of 350 shipwrecks and many lives lost.
Grand Marais is surrounded by millions of acres of unspoiled forests and lakes, offering great outdoor activities in the quiet natural scenery. The area is popular with artisans and there are many courses offered at the Grand Marais Art Colony and the North House Folk School for all ages and abilities.
