  • Cozy and met our needs!!!

"Stayed here with 4 friends on our first ski trip to Lutsen. We enjoyed the gas grill and wood burning fireplace! It was nice to put on our skis and hit the trails right from the townhouse - just a warning - you will have to "skate" as the trail gets pretty flat on the way to the lifts. No biggie tho and we chalked it up as an added "exercise" bonus while on vacation. We didn't interact a lot with the staff, except for Steve our shuttle driver. Steve is AWESOME!! Super friendly and informative and he even shoveled our side walk for us. We were blessed with 11 inches of fresh powder during one day of skiing. The town house provides you with dishes, pans, coffee pot, toaster, etc. Please note to bring tinfoil, plastic bags, wrap if you are cooking. We also brought our own crock pots. Otherwise, everything else we needed was there! It's a cute little townhouse - we had 5 adults. We were comfortable, but a little crowded trying to fit us around the table. We ventured to Papa Charlie's one night for drinks and to listen to a band - otherwise we stuck close to the townhouse in the evenings and played cards and LOTS OF LAUGHS! We would stay here again. Lastly, my BF booked the townhouse as a Christmas present for me - he said Jennifer was great to deal with - very responsive to his questions and super friendly. Thank you Jennifer!!!"

  • Perfect Northshore Honeymoon

"We recently stayed here for our Northshore Honeymoon and it was absolutely amazing. The moment we walked into the door we knew this place was perfect and we were going to be able to relax. The kitchen had everything we needed so make dinner each night. The views are amazing and it is a quiet location. Highly recommend and we will be staying here again!"

  • Ski in ski out

"Very nice, spacious, accessible to pool area, and well furnished for skiing fun. We were able to cook our own meals with the right cooking utensils, and or pots and pans to use. We ate all our meals at the condo. It's nice to come back for a noon meal and not fight traffic at the chalets. Fabulous to take off our ski equipment and relax. This was one of our 3rd condos we have stayed in over the years at Caribou Lodge. Each place has it's own personality. We just like to ski at Lutsen and the VRBO gives us the opportunity to find a convenient place to stay. Easy access from parking lot and it was wonderful that we did not have to carry our bags, cooler, food all the way to the 3rd floor this year. Only 1 flight of stairs from outside access or 2 flights from inside access. Yea! Thanks for the opportunity to stay at your condo."

Lutsen Travel Tips

Lutsen Vacation Rentals Are Conveniently Located

Located off Highway 62 and just 90 minutes out of Duluth, Lutsen cottages are in Cook County, Minnesota. The area is also conveniently situated just four hours from the Twin Cities on Interstate 35. The closest airport is Duluth. It is a popular ski resort in winter, and summers are ideal for a variety of outdoor activities.

Lutsen Lake Houses in the Heart of the Superior National Forest

Set around Lake Superior, in the heart of the Superior National Forest, Lutsen vacation rentals are ideal for visitors to enjoy the many activities around here. During the winter, the area sees an average of over 10 feet of snow. This makes an ideal vacation for skiers and snowboarders. The mountains attract skiers who come for the choice of over 92 slopes, ranging from beginner to very advances. There is over 1,000 feet of drop from top to bottom; there are also plenty of ski lifts to get up to the top. The cross country skiing has gradual descents on tracked trails through the forests of birch, aspen pines and maple. Across the county, there are acres of groomed trails, snaking through the forests from the State Park at Temperance River to the Bally Creek Trails close to Cascade River State Park. The spectacular skiing is matched only by the stunning scenery. Another activity that is increasingly popular is snowshoeing. A more low impact, gentler exercise, it is a perfect way for the family to explore the area and spot the many species of wildlife.

To take a break from the skiing and snowboarding, visitors may enjoy a unique dog sledding adventure. Here, visitors can race down the backcountry trails, being pulled along by a team of excited huskies. Here, visitors can also enjoy a peaceful ride through the mountains on one of the sleigh rides in the area.

Visit the Newly Opened Gunflint Trail

Lutsen lake houses are close to a number of great restaurants. Unlike many areas, there are no chain restaurants here. The focus is all about local produce, freshly made and served with a warm welcome. Whether visitors desire a casual atmosphere, the wonderful local seafood or a good steak, there is an ideal place.

A recent addition to the many wonderful experiences around Lutsen is the new designated National Scenic Byway at the historic Gunflint Trail. This trail winds through the east-west corridor of Boundary Waters Wilderness. This trail follows a footpath discovered in the 1800s but used by Native Americans long before that. The Ojibwe tribe made its home in the area for over 20,000 years. It is over 55 miles beginning at Grand Marais in Minnesota and finishing near the Canadian border, at Saganaga Lake. Along the trail are many points of interests, including Hedstrom Lumber Mill, the George Washington Forest and much more. Along the drive, visitors should watch for black bears, moose, deer, fox, lynx, wolves, pine marten, and birds such as eagles. Near the rivers, keep an eye out for beavers and otters. In the rivers, anglers may want to fish for bass, rainbow and lake trout, walleye, pike and more. When visiting the lakes along this trail, search the rocks and cliff faces for carvings made by the Ojibwe centuries ago.

Lutsen Cottages Have Impressive Luxuries as Standard

Many come with internet access and pools; even your pet can receive a warm welcome.
