  • Love-love-love this property!

"Upon arriving I realized that this cabin was going to suit our family of 7 better than I initially thought. All of us instantly felt at home. With 3 beds & 3 associated bathrooms, each couple had adequate privacy. All of the decor and linens are top notch! Even the pullout bed downstairs was comfortable! The kitchen is well appointed with a lot of serving dishes and utinsels, which made entertaining a breeze. There are little instructions everywhere throughout this home (TV, lights, etc.) so you never feel lost. You can tell a lot of thought and care went into the design of this log home. Every room makes use of natural light with big windows and sky lights. Though the cabins around us were also occupied, we still felt a sense of privacy and seclusion. We thoroughly enjoyed exploring the shoreline, but when it was too cold to do that, we enjoyed drinking coffee by the front window and watching the lake from the comforts of the great room. We enjoyed skiing at Lutsen Mountains, which was only a 10 minute drive. There is a small general/grocery store and liquor store nearby, so restocking was convenient. Our family is already trying to figure out when we'll be able to get back to this great property! Thank you Jerry!"

  • Everything as described, a quiet getaway!

"What you see in the pictures is what you'll find when you arrive, everything is just as described. Brian is a great host, concerned to make sure everything is as expected - and Hank (the dog) couldn't be any happier to see new friends. The lake is wonderfully peaceful, clear and beautiful - the most boats we ever saw on the lake when we were out other than our own was a grand total of 3. 80% of the shore-land looks like the BWCA or Canada, very remote & wild. The lake is small, but that means less time spent looking for new spots to fish and less gas to burn. We saw bald eagles every day, the loons were there to serenade us, we saw beavers and deer as well. While we didn't set any records with our fishing, we always could catch something (bass and northern pike mostly) and the crappie bite was very dependable every evening. The locals that we met that had places on the lake were very friendly and helpful. Little kids would be able to catch panfish off the dock (little ones) all day long without any problem. There's no cell phone service, no TV, and that's all part of what makes this great. It's a short drive into Marcel for essentials, or an easy drive to Grand Rapids to visit a bigger town with the big box stores. The cabin is small, but it doesn't claim to be otherwise, and we found everything clean and orderly, and well stocked with the essentials. If you are looking for a low tech, relaxing vacation - then you'll certainly enjoy your stay. We would recommend this property to anyone looking for what Brian so accurately describes. If you want something fancy, look elsewhere - but if you are looking for an old fashioned retreat you will enjoy your stay."

  • Great place!

"Excellent nature get-away-- fishing, canoeing, hiking, relaxing! The best feature by far of this property is the screened in porch. At night we listened to loons, coyotes, owls, and ??? There was always someone wanting to sleep out on the porch--like camping but way better--no bugs and a comfortable futon. Maggie was great to work with."
