  • Family get-away

"We had a family of 16 at the Bear Point house for the week and it was perfect. The pictures do not do justice to the house and the setting and view are excellent. The house absorbs a big group easily--plenty of room to slip away from the crowd but also great space for all to be together, both out on the deck and inside. Fishing was as slow--August after all-- but the fish finders show the lake is full. We did catch rock, small mouth and large mouth bass, northern pike, one Muskie and an occasional walleye. We would love to come back-perhaps in June- to see those fish close up. Thanks for a great week!"

  • Good place to vacation

"Pros: Price, nice large lake with clear water and fish in it, large lake home, keyless entry to home, 2 bathrooms, electric motor plug-ins on the dock, stocked kitchen cupboards and air conditioning, large dining room table which fit 8 comfortably, they let us check-in early and check-out late, they called us back with instructions when we couldn't get the internet working. Cons:They don't list nearly everything you want/need on their website, so you either have to ask ahead of time or pack it anyway and find out they already have it (such as a hair dryer, cooking spices and a blender), no glass recycling - you have to take yours home to recycle it, the fridge leaked water on the floor and the ice-maker did not make ice, I was woken up by a scared, frantic squirrel in the window well who could not get out because the sides are completely metal inside and luckily we had a wildlife biologist and several animal lovers with us who rescued it, along with over 15 frogs and toads who were stuck down there (these window wells should have animal-friendly toppers as it was an obvious animal graveyard with several dead frogs at the bottom --also there were 2 frogs suck between the bedroom screen and window as there are holes in the screens and we had to free those and release them outside too), no boats of any kind at the lake home for guest use including kayak, canoe, paddle boat, row boat, fishing boat or pontoon (I would recommend you call ahead to local marine rental places because most are booked by the time you get there), the prices listed for one marine boat rental listed in the blue booklet in the home are outdated (2012) and not accurate anymore, I would say this home is not totally baby-proofed, so don't bring toddlers or watch out for hanging cords, not always enough silverware for a family of 8, not much of a lakeview from the lake home, the fire pit has no lakeview, you have to be careful to not use the appliances all at once in the kitchen (instructions are in their blue booklet in the home), and 3 of the 4 bedrooms are too small to put the cot in, so if you have to sleep 2 upstairs who don't share a bed, you have to haul the cot up there."

  • Perfect Cabin

"Great cabin located just East of Detroit Lakes. The owners were great about communication, and even though the weather did'nt cooperate, there was plenty to do. We took advantage of the board games, fire pit, and played lots of yard games as well. The kids loved taking the canoe over to the island and swimming out to the platform just off the dock. We even watched a few movies when it started raining. Perfect for our group of 7."

  • Three weeks vacation on Big Man Trap. This was our second year to return from Nebraska.

"The area is a favorite with good bass fishing, Northern Pike are abundant and our biggest reason to Man Trap is the Musky fishing. We seen 10 and caught none. We have fished this lake for years and camped in very nice grounds. Cabin has been refreshing to retired visitors. It offered every amenity we wished for. Well Internet conections were a problem. Everything else was in great working conditionn clean, handy for disabled with no inclines to water. Few steps. The owners are impeccable that we have high regards for. We did our utmost to respect there property. Best regards Betty Allison"
