  • Quiet Getaway

"We were looking for a quiet getaway, and the Chicken Coop delivered! The cottage was very clean and comfortably furnished. We enjoyed the fresh eggs for breakfast each morning! The location was secluded but close to restaurants and shopping. The owners were very nice and welcomed us warmly. We will recommend this rental."

  • Even better than expected!

"The house has been renovated nicely but maintains it's eclectic charm. We were in town for a horse show at the Horse Park, and this house was perfectly located with plenty of room for parking your truck in the back. Very quiet neighborhood with sidewalks for getting around on foot. We'll be back - thanks!"

  • Perfect location -- GREAT house

"The Land Where the Blues Began cottage was perfect! Location was excellent, house was spotlessly clean, comfortable and well appointed. I am a bit of a kitchen 'snob' since I really like to cook and the kitchen was one of the best rentals ever (out of 20 or so cottages). I do bring certain knives and spices but all basic and then some in the kitchen equipment line made me a happy renter. Clarksdale is a fun town - even 'off season' when there is not a major Blues Festival going on. Using Clarksdale as a home base allowed us to travel to Indianola - BB King Museum and Blue Biscuit cafe, Greenwood and Greenville, Tunica, Taylor, Oxford and other small towns. Ground Zero of course is probably the best known club however, Red's, Bluesberry Cafe, Po Monkey's, Hambone Gallery and even Stone Pony offer music on weeknights. If you are traveling to/near Clarksdale - check out this rental. Great house and VERY responsive and helpful owners. PS if you are a dog owner there is a great little park just 2 or so blocks away - runs along the river and a perfect dog walk - paved pathway and lots of grass and running room for the pooch."

  • Brooklyners

"We had a wonderful time staying in this beautiful, historic house. Unfortunately - it was a little too cool to enjoy the huge screened in porch - which is almost as big as the house. The location was great - just a block to the sugar white beach. We also enjoyed the great selection of books and videos about the area - and the bikes. The host gave us great recommendations on where to eat. We especially enjoyed Bacchus (wonderful seafood and charming waiters), the Cat Island Cafe and bookstore (beautifully designed, perfect views of the Gulf, friendly staff and great biscuits!) and in nearby Bay St. Louis - the Buttercup Cafe and Brooklyn Pizza (which uses authentic recipes from the Italian enclave of Bensonhurst Brooklyn). In Bay St Louis we highly recommend the Alice Moseley museum - which has works by this politically informed, and humorous primitive painter (think a much hipper Grandma Moses), who lived there for the last 15 years of her long life. The strip shopping center in Bay St Louis where Brooklyn Pizza is located also has a huge and well stocked and well priced grocery store with the unusual name of Froogal (I thing that's how it's spelled!)."
