The house and owners will EXCEED your expectations!
"Best vacation ever. The owners of this house have the VRBO thing mastered. The owner could not have been more accommodating and pleasant to work with. I had a lot of questions and he didn't mind at all. I had my deposit back within days. They go above & beyond to make this house the best and most comfortable. All we had to do was get groceries, and they had a lot of the basics already there. LOCATION: It's close to banks, restaurants, the Bagnell Dam and strip, Walmart, HyVee...it's an awesome location. We spent an afternoon at Franky & Louie's and another at Jacob's Cave, we shopped on the strip and had ice cream, we had dinner at JJ Twiggs (REALLY great pizza) and Tucker's Shuckers. But most of the time, it was swimming and fishing off the dock. THE HOUSE: My mom is on oxygen and I was worried about the steps - but she did fine...they weren't bad at all. I was worried about the steep drive, but by day two-I didn't even blink. Des Moines doesn't have steep hills...so that was new for us. The kids had a blast and we thought we'd use the fire pit, but we were all so exhausted from playing in the water, we never did get a chance to, plus it was high 90's while we were there. Loved the Gazebo for shade, and the dock was awesome with plenty of floats- wish I'd waited to see what all they had before I went and bought new! The decks are amazing and it was so peaceful on the lake in the mornings- one of my favorite things about the trip- drinking my coffee on the deck, (There's a Starbucks close too). I want to go back and do it all again. If you love taking pictures - this is the place for you! And like one other review had said- the pictures on here do NOT do it justice.
I feel very lucky to have found this house when I was looking - we all had a wonderful time. I would HIGHLY recommend it."

"Wonderful! We traveled with 2 adults, 2 teenagers, and a dog, and this property was perfect. The Crappie Cottage has beautiful finishes, and is truly stocked with everything from blender to beach towels. The kitchen has everything, there's floaties by the swim dock, and wood by the fire pit. Location is awesome, just minutes from great food and loads of things to do. I could go on and on. Thank you Jerry and Candy - we'll be back!"

"The property itself is very nice and well equipped. The major downfall for us was that the property is not off the lake, and that is what we really strive for. There is more than enough space and the parking is good."

"My first impression driving up was mixed. The scenery was nice and the cabins were charming and rustics. The only thing that I thought was super tacky were some of the cabins had prominent signs on the front advertising websites where a person could rent the cabin. Personally, when I rent a vacation home, I don’t like being reminded that I am tourist and people around us are tourist. The parking was easy and we had plenty of room for our 2 cars. The location was close enough to Branson that we could go to attractions without a long drive but far enough out that we were obviously in the country. Tip, if you don’t mind back roads, the best way to get into Branson and not get stuck forever in traffic is to take 265 and not 65!
The interior cabin was great. It was decorated in cowboy style and was roomy and comfortable for the 7 of us. BTW, the pull out bed is pretty hard so be sure to put your kids on that and leave the other beds for the oldsters. We were in the main bedroom and that bed was comfy.
Now to my two biggest gripes.
First, the 2 grills. They are disgusting! They were filthy (one grill had left over chicken pieces) and caked with grease. And to top it off, they were literally falling apart. There is no excuse to have those abominations on the rear deck. We could not control the heat on either grill and in fact the other grill’s burner was broken and could not hold a flame (outside of flames coming out at the base of the burner element. I could really really rant on this since we had bought food for a couple nights of cooking on the grill. If you are into grilling, I highly recommend you talk to the owners to see if they have replaced them.
Second, the pond needs to be dredged and cleaned up. There are a billion frogs; it’s scummed over with algae and is not particularly picturesque up close. You are not going to want to spend a lot of time near it, though the kiddos may enjoy the frogs.
Overall, we had a pleasant experience except for the issues noted above."
