"The house and experience was primarily as others have stated. It worked very well for us (two over 55 couples). Irene was very nice, respectful, apologetic for some small inconveniences. However, what is not mentioned in any other reviews that we could see nor house description is the situation with the water. It contains iron and despite owner's best efforts (as evidenced by multiple filters) there is a distinctive sulphur smell from the tap water. Irene told us the water has been tested and is safe. Odor is strongest when water is hot (as in showers). Irene provides multiple water containers in the frig for drinking. This shouldn't be a deal breaker..just something to know before you come. Also as an FYI, there are cans of bear spray to borrow for hiking."

  • Best Views! Most Relaxing Location! Wonderful Hostess!

"We just returned from a 2-week road trip across the US. We stayed 2 nights at Elk Willows, and everyone in our party agreed it was one of the highlights of the trip. The pictures just do not even do the place justice. The sunrise and sunset views were spectacular. The silence there was wonderful. Our 10-year-old daughter had the best time there simply playing outside with the neighborhood friendly dogs and the ranch's alpacas. She now wants to move to Montana. :) The lodge was so very clean and comfortable. Our family of 3 was traveling with my parents. There was plenty of room for everyone to spread out. Our only regret was that we didn't book it for longer. I would love to sit on the front porch and just watch the endless views for several days. Glacier National Park is a simple, short drive away as is the Canadian part of the park in Waterton. The border crossing was not crowded and was easy and quick. We found the east side of Glacier nicer and more picturesque than the west side. We saw lots of bears while in and around the park. We saw elk at sunrise on the ranch. Janice was so helpful and nice. She supplied us with bear spray and told us how to use it. :) She also cleaned daily and brought us some delicious homemade caramels! She makes you feel like you've known her for ages. I had to resist the urge to hug her goodbye after just 2 days! If you want solitude and beautiful views, book Elk Willows. We loved it and hope to visit again someday."

  • GlacierFan

"This house was just perfect for our family. The location between St. Mary entrance and Many Glacier gave us quick access to the best hikes in the park. The bedrooms were huge, and the kitchen was stocked with everything we needed, including a crock pot so dinner was ready when we got home from a long hike:) We had plenty of linens, the beds were very comfortable, and the house was spotless. The owners were great to work with, too. One recommendation is if you stay here to be sure to take a look at the stars at night. You can see millions of stars including the Milky Way. Spectacular!!"

  • Great home on the east side

"We've been coming to Glacier every few years for a while and have been looking for a home on the east side for access to the best hiking--this place is great! The owners are delightful and easy to work with, and provide great care for their home. The home is very well-stocked with all the cooking and food prep materials you need. Lots of space, upstairs bedrooms are nice and the downstairs basement room with two beds works well too. And the back porch views are wonderful at sunset. We look forward to returning here our next time to Glacier."
