"Great cabin, great owners and a really wonderful view from almost every point in the house. Lew and Cheryl were wonderful folks (thanks for the comb honey, Cheryl!) and very responsive. The kitchen was a dream and had everything a cook could need, the sleeping areas were nice (it has four queen size beds!) and the open living area was just what we wanted for our group vacation. The cabin amenities were just as stated (although we discovered you couldn't wash clothes and take a shower immediately afterwards! LOL) and the location on the east side of the park was just right for our plans. We didn't ever see the lake except as we were driving down the road to the cabin, but it is obviously THE place to go for fishing in that part of the world based on what we saw and read about Duck Lake. We didn't want to leave, but alas our vacation came to a pleasant end so we waived goodbye to Rob (the local canine welcoming committee), closed the gate (lots of horses and cattle roam free in Montana) and took just a few more pictures of the lovely views as we drove off. I'm not sure we will ever be back to Montana or the GNP, but if we do I would certainly try to reserve this cabin again!!"

"This is the first review I have ever written, and for a good reason. We spent a week at Paul's ranch just outside Glacier National Park and it was probably the nicest vacation rental we ever had, not because the house was super luxurious (it isn't), but because of beautiful views, peace and serenity, and wonderful caretakers Janice and Colin. The location couldn't be better if you plan to visit different areas of the Park on the east side - about half an hour to both Many Glacier and Two Medicine. It is also about the same distance to the Canadian border, so you are planning a day trip to Waterton, you couldn't be better located. I usually prefer to stay within the park boundaries when visiting national parks, but in this case we really couldn't do better.
The house itself is spacious and comfortable, everything you need is there, Janice was extremely nice and went above and beyond to make us comfortable. She brought a whole jar of homemade hot chocolate powder for my 11-year-old when he asked her if she has any. My kids loved the animals, and driving on the dirt road leading to the house through a herd of cows was the highlight of my son's vacation. Whenever there were no cows on the road, he considered the day wasted.
The view from the porch is incredible. I am the early riser in the family, and I would sit there for a couple of hours each morning with a couple of coffee watching the sun rise. It is a really very nice place to stay when visiting GNP."

"My wife, Jeanne and I have been visiting GNP for more than 10 years now. In 2012, while searching David's website (davidwalburn.com) for new music, I found the Stonehouse. For two folks who love the park and enjoy having a nice place to relax after a long day of hiking, this looked like a great option. To say the least, we weren't disappointed. It's everything you see in the pictures and the video. It's roomy, comfortable, furnished nicely and well built. The views of the mountains from the main picture window are stunning. On top of everything being set up perfectly, David checked on us to make sure we made it in OK and to see if we needed anything. I can tell you from experience, there is no better place to stay near Many Glacier and St. Mary's than the Stonehouse. On top of it being a great vacation home, David really cares that your stay is memorable. That brings us to 2014/2015. After several years of "attempting" to play David's music with my "band" (Dan & Steve) and showing them my GNP vacation pictures, they became intrigued by the thought of us going on a fishing trip to MT. We finally decided to try a winter "ice fishing & picking" trip. I called up David and he was glad to assist. He even agreed to play music with us! You can imagine my excitement when I told my guitar pals that "David Walburn", was actually going to hang out and "jam" with us. The day we arrived, David was at the Stonehouse waiting and making sure everything was set up just right. The ice fishing was fantastic! The evenings playing music and getting to know David were even better. He even provided us with a couple of dinners of ribs and trout. I knew David was a great singer, songwriter and guitar player, but I had no idea what a great cook he was. "Dan doesn't even like fish, but he couldn't get enough of the trout David prepared." To top off our trip, David video'd the entire experience. We've gotten nothing but compliments on how professionally the video is put together. I feel very blessed for having had the pleasure of vacationing in GNP for several years. Staying at the Stonehouse and becoming friends with David has made it that much more enjoyable. He's a straight forward, down-to-earth, gracious host, who truly loves and appreciates the experience of living in the Rocky Mountains. It comes through in his music and in the way he treats his guests. David, thank you for helping make our trips to Glacier a little more special each time. Mike"

Best Views! Most Relaxing Location! Wonderful Hostess!
"We just returned from a 2-week road trip across the US. We stayed 2 nights at Elk Willows, and everyone in our party agreed it was one of the highlights of the trip. The pictures just do not even do the place justice. The sunrise and sunset views were spectacular. The silence there was wonderful. Our 10-year-old daughter had the best time there simply playing outside with the neighborhood friendly dogs and the ranch's alpacas. She now wants to move to Montana. :)
The lodge was so very clean and comfortable. Our family of 3 was traveling with my parents. There was plenty of room for everyone to spread out. Our only regret was that we didn't book it for longer. I would love to sit on the front porch and just watch the endless views for several days.
Glacier National Park is a simple, short drive away as is the Canadian part of the park in Waterton. The border crossing was not crowded and was easy and quick. We found the east side of Glacier nicer and more picturesque than the west side. We saw lots of bears while in and around the park. We saw elk at sunrise on the ranch. Janice was so helpful and nice. She supplied us with bear spray and told us how to use it. :) She also cleaned daily and brought us some delicious homemade caramels! She makes you feel like you've known her for ages. I had to resist the urge to hug her goodbye after just 2 days! If you want solitude and beautiful views, book Elk Willows. We loved it and hope to visit again someday."
