"The Payne Creek Cabin that we rented from Randy was awesome! We drove from Florida to Montana in 3 days, just over 2700 miles, and arrived at the cabin about 2pm on Monday, September 1st. The cabin was exactly like described and represented in the pictures. It was nicely stocked with everything someone would need to spend a week, to include cooking utensils, sheets, towels, etc. The cabin was very peaceful and the Payne Creek flowing right by the cabin was very relaxing. We saw several deer around the cabin almost daily, to include 3 bachelor bucks walking up the gravel road in front of the cabin on our first morning. The turkeys came by a few times. We used Randy's "things to do list" and seen almost everything on the list, with the exception of Spruce Lake. My Wife and I drove to Spar Lake and it was beautiful. As we left there, we attempted to find Spruce Lake and followed the signs until we came to a mountain road that was very untraveled and ended up stopping at a point on the other side of Spruce lake, but we never could find out how to get down to the lake. Kootenai falls was breathtaking, and the Road to the Sun in Glacier National Park was awe inspiring to say the least. We saw elk, pronghorn antelopes, 3 baby black bears, and 5 mountain goats. It was a trip of a lifetime. We will be planning another trip back to stay in Randy's Payne Creek Cabin, after our back sides get un-flattened from the 38 hour drive from Montana back to Florida. Randy, thank you very much for allowing my Wife and I the pleasure of renting your very nice cabin near Bull Lake! The Shoup Family!"

"Our family had one of the most amazing vacations at this Bull Lake home. It is the most beautiful spot on the island and so very quiet. The lake is gorgeous and the home is lovely and very comfortable. Our 2 year old grandson spent hours playing on the beach and we all had a great time swimming, fishing and relaxing. There is plenty to see in the area. Lots of great little day trips. We can't wait to go back!"

  • Just what we needed

"We stayed over Memorial Day weekend and it was just wonderful. The house was clean and well stocked. We had forgotten coffee and were pleasantly surprised to find fresh Montana roasted coffee beans waiting for us! We had young kids (3 & 5) with us and they really enjoyed splashing about in the water and running around the yard. The stair/ladder to the loft was quite steep, but we managed to keep them from playing on it too much. Luckily there is a solid railing and gate at the top so we slept soundly knowing the kids wouldn't try coming down in the middle of the night. The hinges on the gate are loud so we could hear it open and close -- but we used a belt to "tie" the gate closed just for extra measure. The owners live right next door and are friendly. They had a paddle boat we could use and were kind enough to see if we needed anything they could grab at the grocery store when they headed into town. They could not have been more hospitable. This area of Montana is incredibly underrated and this house on Bull Lake makes a perfect home base to come back to after a long day of exploring. It's also perfect for relaxing by the water with a campfire and a good book. Our kids keep asking when we'll be going back to "Our New Lake House" -- I hope it's not long :)"

  • Family reunion

"We rented this house along with the large property across the road for a family reunion and it all worked great for us. We didn't spend a lot of time at this house, mostly used it for sleeping and a little extra food prep/storage. Just a couple notes - the description says there are 2 airbeds, but we could only find one. The air-conditioning is just a small window unit in the kitchen. Nights are usually cool, so not a problem, but the upstairs can get a little warm. There are somewhat limited kitchen items, but it was no problem for us since we were using the lower property, too. We would definitely rent both properties again!"
