  • Truly - "The Last Best Place"!!!

"It is rare that we stay anywhere in the world where we can truly say - "this exceeded our expectations" and we have fairly high expectations. Trust us - stay here and your expectations will be exceeded - guaranteed! In short, staying in Montana, in Flathead County area, in Lakeside, and at Linda and Wayne's thoughtfully planned and exquisitely manicured VERY secluded (peaceful) "home" is sincerely a dream vacation. There is nothing, absolutely nothing, that hasn't been thought out as far as your needs no matter how long or short your stay. Just bring you and your clothes. (PS - the weather at Lakeside can be volatile ranging from shorts to needing to pack for snow). The winsomeness of Linda and Wayne is commendable. How rare it is to be so welcomed in to someone's home and instantly be made to feel like you are a lifelong friend. That is how it feels to stay at one of Linda and Wayne's "condos". Privacy, Serenity. Unparallelled vistas. Crisp, clean air. Apples. Cherries. Flowers. Green grass. Gardens. Tress, trees, and more trees. Solitude. Rest. Re-creation. Peace. Gentle breezes. Lapping water. Trickling fountains. Eagles. Deer, deer, and more deer. Ospreys. Crystal, crisp glacial waters. Mountains. I could go on and on and on - but honestly we are torn, because as we told our hosts we are conflicted between sharing the joy and beauty of staying here and keeping this gem all to ourselves - LOL. We highly recommend you call for your reservation as far in advance as possible for the simple fact that return guests come back again and again and again. We booked a year in advance. Finally - within 5 minutes drive to "downtown" (ha ha) Lakeside you have the Tamarack Brew Co to eat at, Blacktail (MT) grocery, gas station, Homestead and Farmhouse breakfast restaurants (old/classic and new eclectic respectively), Seven upscale restaurant, and a DQ. Drive slowly and enjoy the deer eating roadside. PSS - Insider note - inquire about securing a "private" lake tour with Linda and Wayne. Weather and their schedules permitting - this is priceless and memorable. Thank you Linda. Thank you Wayne. We will be back!!!"

  • Great Weekend Stay

"You are always nervous when you rent a place unseen in advance. We were very pleased with what we found. Our accommodations were just as they were described in the write up. Very, very close to main part of town so we could walk everywhere. It was clean and neat and well appointed. Parking was a breeze and check in/out was seamless as all we had to do was locate the lock box and we were in. No hassles. It rained during our stay so we did not take full benefit of the wonderful patio and sounds of the flowing river. But, it was tranquil and very relaxing even indoors. We hope to return here!!"

  • August Paradise

"Two couples stayed at Ida Lou for 4 nights and completely had a wonderful time. The accommodations was beyond expectations. The kitchen was cozy and was great for preparing our meals as well as having a grill was nice. The views from the deck were fantastic. One morning took coffee up to upper deck and had a hummingbird flying around my pink shirt. Had fun watching the vows visit us one morning. Enjoyed the fire pit in the evenings. We truly didn't plan enough time for our Stay and certainly will put on list to come back again. Thank you for providing the bear spray if needed. Glad we didn't have to use. For families or friends needing to get away and have some peace- Ida Lou cabin is the place to set up base camp. Thank you Ralph and Sheila for sharing your cabin with us. You two are the best!"

  • Wonderful and perfect vacation home!!

"Thank you, Dave and Stephanie, for opening your home to us. We had a lovely time in Montana and found your home a wonderful and relaxing spot to call home for a week. The coffee and wine upon arrival was very nice. The house was immaculate and stocked with all the things we would need (paper products, soap, spices, saran wrap, etc. Many things we are used to packing for a vacation house). We especially enjoyed viewing the river from the large back deck and cooking in the fully equipped kitchen. You name it, they have it. The washer and dryer (with soap) was very nice for keeping up on laundry, always a dreaded task when arriving back home. The house is split level with two bedrooms, large TV room and office downstairs. The kitchen, living area, laundry, 2 bedrooms and both bathrooms (master and other) are upstairs. One of our favorite features of the house was turning on a music channel from the satellite dish and having the speaker on the back deck so we could hear it while looking at the river or while in the hot tub. Awesome!! We enjoyed hiking in Glacier Nat'l Park which was about 20 minutes away. Pack a picnic lunch, spend all day there, and come back to the house for dinner. The Amazing Fun Center in Coram, MT was fun for both adults and the kids. There were 6 adults and 3 kids in our group. 8 of us enjoyed a half day whitewater raft trip with Glacier Raft Company. It was raining that day but we were going to get wet anyway, right? If you are interested in the Glacier Nat'l Park area then this house is for you. A very clean home in the heart of the area right on the river. You can fish from the shore, wade in the river, or run around the beautiful yard playing games. Even our dog enjoyed his vacation to Montana. This may be the best home we've rented to date! Thanks again."
