  • Great location and house

"Great rental home and location. The Madison river is a short walk away, and plenty of wildlife to watch right off of the back porch. Really enjoyed the wood fireplace, as we made fires every night. The kitchen was fully stocked which allowed us to cook each night. 60 minutes from West Yellowstone, 75 minutes from Dillon (beaver head/big sky rivers), and close to Bozeman. Perfect central location for all of the activities that we wanted to do. Can't wait to go back! Great owners, and very easy to work it."

  • Clean, Comfortable, and Cozy

"What a great place to stay in Montana! Jenn/Jack were so easy to work with, answered all of our questions, (the pharmacy and the bistro at the bowling alley were wonderful places to eat) and took care of the many details that made our trip so enjoyable. The location was perfect for our sightseeing and "grazing" around the country. The house with the garage was great for the cold/windy days. I would recommend Jenn/Jack's house for families, fishermen, hunters, and outdoor enthusiasts of all kinds. Thanks for making our Montana visit so memorable!"

  • Exceeded my expectations!

"The VRBO photographs, while captivating, don't begin to capture the true nature of this Montana property. We were lucky enough to stay a month, and we never grew tired of the ever-changing vista to be had out of any window. Luxury blended with the rustic could be found in the smallest details. The house felt like a home immediately. Add in the wealth of wildlife, the blue ribbon fishing, and what you end up with is one of the most perfect spots on earth. The hosts couldn't have been nicer, as were the people at the ranch. Worth every penny--thanks Larry."

  • Perfect Vacation Property!

"This property is perfect if you have a large group. We had a minimum of 6 and maximum of 8 with two dogs and we were very comfortable. The house is in the perfect location for sightseeing, within an hour you can to go West Yellowstone, passing Quake Lake and Hebgen Lake which is a beautiful drive. Another must see area is Wade and Cliff Lake, the water is turquoise and crystal clear, a perfect spot for fishing or floating. Just past the town of Ennis is Virginia City; it is completely dog friendly and like stepping back into the 1800s. Pam and Steve were excellent hosts! The property is fully stocked with everything you could imagine, we only had to bring food and drinks. The Madison River is walking distance from the house, but we choose to drive down to the day camping area a mile away, there are flat areas for your chairs and fishing was great. If you like to float, the Madison was a lot of fun! I completely endorse this property for vacation, it provided great memories for our family and friends!"

Ennis Travel Tips

Country Living at Ennis Vacation Rentals

Ennis is a destination you can visit and feel as though you have escaped to an entirely different world. The homes are spacious and set on large properties. Many of the homes are used as wedding venues and can accommodate large groups of people. If you want to teach your children to enjoy and appreciate nature, there is no better way than to stay in a place like Ennis for a while. Here, you are surrounded by beautiful mountains, rivers and streams with no city lights to interrupt your views. Most people come to Ennis to enjoy hours of fly fishing on the waterways. The region is rumored to have the best trout fishing for miles. It is also a destination where there are endless outdoor adventure opportunities.

Activities to Do near Ennis Cabins

The Madison River and its tributaries are popular fly fishing spots for both locals and visitors. Stop in at one of the local fishing and lure stores and have a chat with the locals. They may let you in on some of their favorite fishing spots. Fishing guides are also available to take you down the river if you’d like.

If you like faster paced river adventures, you can raft or kayak down the lower Madison River, the Gallitin River or Beartrap Canyon. Commercial operators run the rivers in season and tours can be booked through the local information center.

To explore the region in true Montana style, pull on your cowboy boots and get into the saddle. Trail rides on horseback are some of the best ways to enjoy the countryside. Guided back country rides can be arranged though any number of the ranches near Ennis. Some offer mult-iday rides where you can sleep out under the stars and see the northern lights.

There are many trails that can be explored on foot or mountain bikes. The lakes of Ennis, Harrison, Sure Shot or Hebgen are great for picnicking. There are many opportunities for wildlife viewing on the various trails; however, visitors need to be aware that it is bear country and take the necessary precautions. Yellow Stone National Park is just a short drive away; there, you can see Old Faithful, the natural geyser that shoots up into the air at regular intervals.

The area was once a place to which many gold prospectors flocked. If you are interested in the gold rush history, you can take a guided tour in either Nevada City or Virginia City. As part of the tour, you can ride an old steam train and pan for gold. There are also several ghost towns dotted throughout the region that you can seek out by exploring the back country roads.

In the wintertime, there are many cross country ski trails and showshoe tracks for exploring. Snowmobile trails cut through the forests and are great ways to explore during the snowy winter months.

Stylish Home Comforts at Ennis Lodging

Imagine staying in a historic old ranch house that has been perfectly restored. Furnished with antiques and home-like comforts, you can enjoy a taste of country living. Many of the vacation homes are spacious and large enough to accommodate several couples or families together. Multiple bedrooms and bathrooms provide ample space for everyone. Large living and lounge areas provide space to congregate and socialize. The kitchens are generally well equipped. While they may be old in style, many have a host of modern appliances that make holiday catering easy and convenient.
