"I'm back from vacation and already miss the "cabin" in Montana. Having passed many other cabins that were"available for rental" from campgrounds, the Professor's Cabin put them all to shame. Jeff's home was solid and made from logs, the likes of which I'd never seen before-they were HUGE. From the moment my friend and I walked in the door, we were awed. I immediately walked right through and stepped out onto the wrap around deck and heard an elk bugling...Unfortunately, hearing bugling was the only interaction I would have with the elk, as the chipmunks are very territorial and managed to run the elk off. Just kidding :) -Would I recommend this place for my friends and family? Only if they promised to take me along! I LOVED it. I guess I should say "WE LOVED it," and my friend is not a nature person-he likes to drive-ALOT! On this trip, he was actually content to sit and read for hours at a time in the peace, quiet, and tranquility of the cabin. The weather was very accommodating. We got a bit of everything...sun, rain, snow, more sun. I thought Ohio was famous for changing weather. I packed for some of everything, and found it all in Montana. I watched a fox hunting for breakfast in the meadow a couple of mornings. I saw a coyote and scads of deer in the tall grass off the deck, as well. A couple of times I heard coyotes hunting. (Being from Ohio, I know this sound well and may have misinterpreted it otherwise.) Then, as I jokingly mentioned were the chipmunks, who served as the entertainment committee-they were bouncing around everywhere and, at times, launching themselves off the gatepost through the air to (sometimes successfully) land on the hanging birdfeeder at the end of the lane. They would scamper across the deck while I had my morning coffee, and chatter at me, then dash off to harass the birds in the yard. As for the inside of Jeff's home, it was spotless upon arrival and ready to be enjoyed. I did have a real problem with the windows however...in that I couldn't tear myself away from them when I was inside supposedly doing chores. I soon learned to do my tidying when it was too dark to see outside, so I wouldn't have to run back to the windows or run out onto the deck repeatedly (and even then, the stars and moon would beckon.) If you want to get away from it all, even if you're "city folk" like my friend who can't tell a sparrow from a wren, you will love the serenity you can find at The Professor's Cabin."

  • Just felt like home!

"Three of my friends and I just wanted to get away from work, dishes, laundry, and our 'stuff'; so we rented this little cottage for a couple nights. We felt at home the moment we walked in. It was clean, comfortable, and practically furnished and supplied. The view was great, and the air fresh and inviting. We looked the town over, drove around to see all the old houses, and let our imaginations run. We laughed because some of the things in the antique stores were still in use in our own homes. When the air got cool at night, we turned on the stove and ate our candy from the Sweet Palace. We wrapped up in blankets, sat on the porch, watched the moon come up and listened to the dog barking in the distance. The only problem we had was...... we didn't want to go home. So, we called Bob and Nancy and asked if we could stay another night. They laughed and said 'Yes.' (We had to bribe our husbands by promising them fudge from the candy store) I've been doing rentals for almost 15 years, and I've met a lot of owners. These people were the easiest to work with that I've met. We will be going back when we can get away again. Thanks Bob and Nancy."

  • River Quest

"Nice cabin. Nice amenities. Has all the basics for cooking in. Nice to have the daily maid service. Good location, easy access. Far enough off the freeway that you don't really have the white noise. One MAJOR issue: The shrubs need to be cut down so you can see the river from inside the cabin, as well as when you sit on the deck. The shrubs are so high, you can't really see anything but the guest cabin next door, which is way close. Too bad, given the fact it is a river cabin. Enjoyed our stay very much. Highly recommend. Please cut the shrubs!"

  • Just perfect!

"Beautiful home with a fantastic view. Remote, private and getting there is an adventure. Great location since everything is a drive from everything else. This was in a good in-between locale. So glad we found it and looking forward to going back one day."
