  • Great location in fishing paradise.

"Really enjoyed my 5 week stay at the Back Eddy. Great location close to the best trout rivers in the country. Easy walk from the house to the grocery, bars and restaraunts in Sheridan. Easy drive to Yellowstone Park, Butte and Bozeman also. As a bonus, you can watch the deer every evening as they cruise through the backyard looking for apples."

  • Camping Cabins at their finest!

"My boys LOVED this place!!! Authentic log cabins, lots of space and the Big Hole river to fly fish on! My boys (21, 22 & 55) were able to walk into the river and go upstream into a huge section that is not easily accessible to the public. If there had not been huge rains the day before we arrived, fishing would have been outstanding. Be sure to have good river boots the rocks are a bit slippery here. Each log cabin has been incredibly restored, three are on new foundations and are all sealed pretty tight. Chris, the owner, has put a lot of love into this place. I am a home remodeler and appreciated all of the detail and lots of thought has gone into the restoration of these great buildings. The beds were comfortable and well appointed. Each cabin is a bit of a distance from each other, which we liked, and were glad to have brought flashlights. Great for adults or older kids who are comfortable sleeping in their own cabin. The kitchen has an amazing commercial stove/oven and huge refrigerator. We were able to grilled outside every night. It is rustic but very comfortable. My boys are planning their next getaway and would love to make this their landing place again. Be sure to come with your groceries or drive to Butte or Dillon for supplies. Melrose has two fly fishing shops and both were very helpful. We also drove over to the Wise river and Twin Bridges to fish, all within 45 minutes or so. We booked this rental at the last minute…like one day in advance and arrived late at night. The cabins were opened (window shutters open and fans on) and music greeted us in the cooking cabin. It was a bit of an adventure learning the lay of the land late at night. About my rating. I would have given it a 4 star rating since I, the only gal, had to sweep out each cabin the first day, behind the bathroom doors had not been swept for a while, and wipe down the kitchen for my liking (I would have liked to have had a vacuum with an edger). My boys roll their eyes and give this vacation spot 6 stars out of 5 so I had to use the average and rated it a 5 :-) Thank you Chris for sharing this great place it has given us wonderful family vacation memories."

  • Great house, great location for any vacation

"Come to Ennis! Come to fish, come to hike, come to canoe or kayak. Come to dine well, come to shop, come to soak in hot springs, explore original old West towns or visit Yellowstone. Ennis is ideally located to do it all, and this walk-to-town house is the perfect place to stay. We came to fish. Pull up and there's the Madison River right in front, and a deck that really is the best room in the house, courtesy of the view and the tremendous sense of peace from watching the river roll by. Wade fish if you like. Watch deer slowly meander through the front yard, munching on grass before leisurely swimming over to the wooded area across. Have drinks and dine on the deck, the kitchen is fully stocked and of course there's a grill. The house is charming, clean and comfortable and well maintained, and if the weather isn't cooperating you can still dine with that view; the dining and living areas are framed with large picture windows. Beds are comfortable and windows open, a plus if you prefer to feel a breeze as you fall asleep. The washer and dryer enable you to pack less, yet still have clean clothes. Homes alongside are beautiful but allow privacy; the owners live in one, warm and helpful folks who are there if you need help or advice but otherwise allow you complete privacy to enjoy your stay. If you're very lucky, and we were, Linda might be baking biscotti and share--fantastic!--lasted less than a day! Would we go back? Oh yes, we're already booked for this summer!"

  • Favorite Montana cabin

"We stayed at five homes during our Montana vacation and this one was the best. It ticked all our boxes, clean and comfortable, charm galore and fantastic location with beautiful views. We enjoyed playing darts in the evening and our nightly visits from the deer. They came right to the edge of the deck and settled in to watch us play darts. Sitting around the fireplace in the evenings was a treat. Plenty of firewood and lots of other amenities . My husband fished all over Montana but the best was just a across the street and down the easy to navigate wooded steps. And lastly, good communication and trust is very important when you are renting a vacation home and Nancy and Carroll get an A+! We usually don't return to the same place twice but in this case we just might have to do it!"
