  • Another Fabulous Month in Big Sky

"This is our third year returning to 35B at Alpenglow. It feels like our home away from home. The owner has the kitchen perfectly well stocked with everything you could need for any type of meal preparation. The home is comfortable for a family of five or six. The views are priceless... gorgeous sunrises and sunsets over the Peak. My favorite moments are coming home at the end of a great sunny ski day and sitting on the deck off the kitchen just absorbing the fresh air and beauty of the area. The rooms are comfy, tons of closet space for gear. The garage is heated and big enough to fit a vehicle and all your gear. No trip to Big sky is complete without a drive to Yellowstone, it is unbelievable. What really completes our holiday is being able to have Alpenglow as our home and communicating with the owner. We have no complaints. One thing I should mention, is that the home is equipped with everything you would need for travelling with a young child (playyard, highchair and baby gate). As well, the condo is well maintained by a local management company."

  • Great fishing in Yellowstone Park

"We leave Yellowstone humbled once again by God’s creation. The Park is absolutely amazing. We could not wait to go back each day. This trip made our 24th anniversary one we will never forget. I truly enjoyed the fishing in the Park. If you’re a fisherman, trust the Fishing Yellowstone Park book that is on the mantle written by Mr. Parks. The book is worth the read, not to mention it is spot on for the types of fish and the size that each water holds. Great guide book. We saw elk, coyote, eagles, antelope, buffalo, osprey, mule deer. Love this place!"

  • Cozy Cottage

"We had two families that called this cottage our home base as we explored the great outdoors. Yellowstone is just 35 minutes away. The cottage was set up perfectly for our group. The kids enjoyed a deer in the yard the first night there. Everything was clean, beds were comfy and there were plenty of linens. I loved sleeping with the window open listening to the creek. The only negative was the microwave wasn't working; but we were able to work around it. We would definitely return! Thanks for a great get-a-way!"

  • Family Vacation

"We loved our experience. The only reason we did not give it 5 stars is because of the closeness of the other cabins...The picture made it seem as though you were somewhat secluded...Other than that, extremely helpful staff, excellent cabin, beautiful surroundings and will definitely try and be back!"

Montana Travel Tips

Things to See and Do at Montana Vacation Rentals

Montana cabin rentals and homes offer up wide open spaces, tall mountain ranges and abundant wildlife. It is often referred to as the Big Sky State because of its wilderness appeal. Perhaps Montana's most famous natural attraction is Yellowstone National Park and the tall geyser named "Old Faithful" that erupts on a regular basis. Yellowstone vacation rentals are close to great wildlife viewing. It is home to grizzlies, wolves, and various species of deer, elk and other antelope. There are several hiking trails in the park and one of the highlights is the hike up the Iceberg Trail. The route visits the Ptarmigan Falls and then traverses the southern shore of the glacial lake known as Iceberg Lake.

For those that enjoy water sports, Montana cabin rentals along the river offer many adventure opportunities. There is whitewater rafting, paddling and fishing to be enjoyed. Another favorite way to explore the landscapes is on horseback. There are numerous road and mountain bike trails available for cyclists. For technical riders, there are miles of forest and mountain single-track sections. When the season turns, it isn't the end of the adventures. Instead, when the snows blanket the mountains, it attracts even more visitors. Montana cabins are also close to some of the best ski resorts in North America and they are also some of the more affordable to visit. There are miles of downhill ski runs catering to beginner, intermediate and advanced levels. There are also Nordic and cross country skiing trails and various snowboarding terrain parks. Snowshoeing is a popular pastime and many of the parks offer winter snowshoe hikes. There are also snow coach tours that take you sightseeing and wildlife viewing in the cozy comfort of a heated all-terrain vehicle.

Seasons to Visit Montana

The summer months are generally the most popular for those who want to participate in outdoor activities and wildlife viewing. It is also the ideal time of year to explore some of the cultural and historic attractions. The peak season in summertime is during July. The second most popular travel season coincides with the annual snowfalls. The ski season starts in December and, if the weather conditions are good, can last until April.
