  • Great family getaway outside Whitefish

"We just got back from an amazing week at this property. Our only complaint was that we couldn't stay another week (or two). After our very urban kids got used to the hunting trophies, they settled right in and were all sad to have to leave. Ky was a welcoming host full of helpful information (and was able to give the 2 younger kids in our group a riding lesson) but left us to enjoy the solitude and natural beauty on our own. Location is a relatively quick drive 8 or so miles northwest of town--close enough for grocery store/beer runs and dinners out but remote enough to really feel like you are enjoying great outdoors that city people like us come to Montana to experience."

  • Swan River Gem!

"Wonderful house, wonderful location, wonderful owners to work with. What more can we say? Outstanding on every front, perfect home away from home for a family of four and a chocolate lab. Used this as a base camp for trips to Whitefish, Polebridge, Bigfork, and into Glacier. Coming back in 2015, enough said!"

  • Great getaway just outside park

"Brought my wife's sister & husband to see Glacier & Flathead valley for first time - great location for exploring all of Glacier, Whitefish, etc. House just as described - awesome for 2 couples since upstairs & downstairs both self contained! We all commented on how well stocked the kitchen was - great porch with grill & eating area. Was impeccably clean with loads of towels, washer & dryer very helpful, on-demand hot water heater so never any problems with showers, etc. When we come back we will stay here for certain! Thanks to the owners."

  • Family week in Glacier 8/23 to 8/30/2014

"Spent a week here...had no issues from ease of check in to check out..home is nicely furnished and comfortable after long day of hiking in Glacier. We made breakfast several days (other days we had muffins and baked goods for the store and bake shop in town - excellent food) before leaving for the park and also used the grill several times...everything we needed was present. We are all so glad we decided to stay in East Glacier and not West Glacier...it was prefect for our needs...we highly recommend to anyone coming to visit Glacier Natl Park...access was quite easy to all area's and hikes we wanted to complete. Thanks again for sharing your home...looking forward to visiting again."

Montana Travel Tips

Things to See and Do at Montana Vacation Rentals

Montana cabin rentals and homes offer up wide open spaces, tall mountain ranges and abundant wildlife. It is often referred to as the Big Sky State because of its wilderness appeal. Perhaps Montana's most famous natural attraction is Yellowstone National Park and the tall geyser named "Old Faithful" that erupts on a regular basis. Yellowstone vacation rentals are close to great wildlife viewing. It is home to grizzlies, wolves, and various species of deer, elk and other antelope. There are several hiking trails in the park and one of the highlights is the hike up the Iceberg Trail. The route visits the Ptarmigan Falls and then traverses the southern shore of the glacial lake known as Iceberg Lake.

For those that enjoy water sports, Montana cabin rentals along the river offer many adventure opportunities. There is whitewater rafting, paddling and fishing to be enjoyed. Another favorite way to explore the landscapes is on horseback. There are numerous road and mountain bike trails available for cyclists. For technical riders, there are miles of forest and mountain single-track sections. When the season turns, it isn't the end of the adventures. Instead, when the snows blanket the mountains, it attracts even more visitors. Montana cabins are also close to some of the best ski resorts in North America and they are also some of the more affordable to visit. There are miles of downhill ski runs catering to beginner, intermediate and advanced levels. There are also Nordic and cross country skiing trails and various snowboarding terrain parks. Snowshoeing is a popular pastime and many of the parks offer winter snowshoe hikes. There are also snow coach tours that take you sightseeing and wildlife viewing in the cozy comfort of a heated all-terrain vehicle.

It is also a great family vacation destination, especially if you want to instill in your children an appreciation for nature and the outdoors. You can choose your summertime adventure depending on your interests. Most people like to head out on the various hiking trails. Others like to explore on horseback or mountain bikes. There are also strong western traditions with rodeos and shows taking place throughout the season.

Seasons to Visit Montana

There are two favorite seasons for booking Montana vacation homes, depending on your interests. The summer months are generally the most popular for those who want to participate in outdoor activities and wildlife viewing. It is also the ideal time of year to explore some of the cultural and historic attractions. The peak season in summertime is during July. The second most popular travel season coincides with the annual snowfalls. The ski season starts in December and, if the weather conditions are good, can last until April.
