  • Great place to stay for trips into Yellowstone

"We enjoyed our stay at the cabin in Silver Gate. It's an extremely comfortable place to stay. The cabin was clean, was well equipped, and everything worked as the instructions said. The propane heater was a nice touch since it did get quite cold at night and the extra boost to the heat was nice and cozy. The cabin is only a mile outside the Yellowstone Northeast entrance which makes it a quick trip into the Park and especially to Lamar Valley where many animals reside. It's just a nice place to come back to after a day Yellowstone."

  • Great Big Sky Firelight Condo for skiers and Yellowstone visitors

"I've stayed in another Firelight condo in Big Sky so the layout was just as I expected - great privacy with 3 bedrooms each with ensuite bath - 2 upstairs and 1 downstairs. Plus garage, laundry room, and loft with futon. Perfect for groups or families. Nice open main floor kitchen/dining/living and awesome hot tub on deck! I do prefer the other similar unit I've rented as it had more TV's (this just has one in livingroom) and lovely loft is more useful with entertainment up there for kids/teens. That said - great unit with garage so no clearing off car in am - yeah! And I adore the location as I don't like being on mountain - the village has great restaurants and shops and it's a short hop up to the slopes. Any issues we had were promptly addressed by owner."

  • Group of 10 ladies loved this property

"We stayed at Stillwater for 3 nights and 4 days. It was fabulous. The listing was exactly what it was but until you see the views you don't really know how beautiful it is. The house was very clean and was the best equipped kitchen we have ever had. The bedding on the beds was fantastic. It is very close to golf, Whitefish and all the great shopping and great food. I would rate this a 12 out of 10."

  • Perfect Yellowstone Base Camp

"Townhome was perfect for our family of 2 adults and 3 teenage boys as we explored the Big Sky area. We didn't spend as much time in the unit as we should have because we spent the days in Yellowstone, hiking in the area (Ousel Falls is nice short hike), fly fishing on the Madison, and horseback riding up to Rams Horn Lake. But if there had been a rainy day, the unit would have been great. There was plenty of room for everyone to find their own space. The hot tub was the best after our 20 mile trail ride! And, so clean (just like everything else in the unit)! Kitchen was equipped with everything - and there was a new Weber gas grill on the upper deck. Freezer made lots of ice that we used everyday to chill our day-cooler. The base village with lots of activities was a quick 2 minute walk away. Unit was completely stocked with paper and cleaning basics - which is good because larger grocery is in Bozeman. Make reservations at Lotus Pad for an authentic Thai dinner. And Buck's T4 is a great dining experience. The rental agency was extremely responsive and personal. We would definitely stay here again and look forward to exploring Big Sky during the winter."

Montana Travel Tips

Things to See and Do at Montana Vacation Rentals

Montana cabin rentals and homes offer up wide open spaces, tall mountain ranges and abundant wildlife. It is often referred to as the Big Sky State because of its wilderness appeal. Perhaps Montana's most famous natural attraction is Yellowstone National Park and the tall geyser named "Old Faithful" that erupts on a regular basis. Yellowstone vacation rentals are close to great wildlife viewing. It is home to grizzlies, wolves, and various species of deer, elk and other antelope. There are several hiking trails in the park and one of the highlights is the hike up the Iceberg Trail. The route visits the Ptarmigan Falls and then traverses the southern shore of the glacial lake known as Iceberg Lake.

For those that enjoy water sports, Montana cabin rentals along the river offer many adventure opportunities. There is whitewater rafting, paddling and fishing to be enjoyed. Another favorite way to explore the landscapes is on horseback. There are numerous road and mountain bike trails available for cyclists. For technical riders, there are miles of forest and mountain single-track sections. When the season turns, it isn't the end of the adventures. Instead, when the snows blanket the mountains, it attracts even more visitors. Montana cabins are also close to some of the best ski resorts in North America and they are also some of the more affordable to visit. There are miles of downhill ski runs catering to beginner, intermediate and advanced levels. There are also Nordic and cross country skiing trails and various snowboarding terrain parks. Snowshoeing is a popular pastime and many of the parks offer winter snowshoe hikes. There are also snow coach tours that take you sightseeing and wildlife viewing in the cozy comfort of a heated all-terrain vehicle.
