  • Modern, yet log cabin feel. Clean and comfortable. Great views.

"We arrived late on June 16th, 2014 for 4 nights, and left for Lamar Valley early the next morning. Others stayed for the whole week. The key we were told was to watch for a large group of people with spotting scopes. We were advised to rent a small camera that fitted the scopes at the wonderful general store in Silver Gate, which is a short distance from Cooke City. You can rent scopes as well, but everyone watching shared scopes, which worked for those with or without eyeglasses. The small cameras were designed to fit perfectly into the scopes. Or powerful binoculars allowed for great viewing also. This wonderful cabin is a perfect launching place for all types of activities. Just a quarter mile back is a beautiful small waterfall. A perfect early afternoon walk. The deck is large and great for BBQing or relaxing as a deer bounded across in front of us. We saw and photographed bison with young calves on the road, forcing us to stop and wait for the morning snack. We also saw grizzlies, black bears, a beaver, Sandhill Cranes, a family of Canadian Geese with 5 chicks, Lesser Scaup Ducks, Bald Eagles on the ground and doing acrobatic maneuvers with another bird over a recent catch, hundreds, if not a thousand, Bison in the valley, a large herd of elk, a mama moose and two babies, a grizzly munching on a carcass with two wolves waiting their turn, female elk. We saw elk so plentiful and comfortable that they're referred to as lawn ornaments" in Mammoth Springs. We also saw a mother coyote carrying a cub to safety away from the wolves and an Osprey nest with mother and father. This is a photographers dream. Then to return to the beautiful Grey Wolf Cabin in plenty of time for a short nap, or a trip into town to buy miniatures of every animal we had seen. I would go back again and again. Grey Wolf Cabin is so comfortable and well supplied with all the cooking utensils needed. The photographs and paintings on the walls are a perfect reminder of why Yellowstone is one of the great natural microcosms of nature at its finest. Thank you for the comfort and care taken to make this cabin perfect in every way."

  • The perfect spot!

"We have stayed here for 2 years in a row and it's amazing. There is literally EVERYTHING and ANYTHING you could need or want in terms of appliances and extras. Fondue night - they have the pots; making a turkey - they have the roaster; sushi - they have the dishes. The location is spectacular. I'd recommend this place to anyone looking for a stress free, ski trip in the mountains."

  • Great Stay!

"We stayed the weekend for a bachelorette party with 9 girls and this condo was perfect! Lots of room, and so nice to have 3 bathrooms! The condo had everything we needed and it was super clean! Directions to the condo once we got up to the mountain were a little confusing, but we found it after talking to the front desk at the lodge! Would totally recommend this condo!"

  • Immaculate, Private and Quiet

"My wife had outpatient surgery and, her doctor wanted her to be less than 20 minutes from his office the first night in case there were complications (we live in Superior, Mt- about an hour from Missoula). We try to avoid motels, so I started searching for an alternative. My Internet search found the perfect lodging. Owners Mark and Jen were flexible and accommodating. The Trout Bungalow was immaculate, private and quiet. Visitors even have their own carport with a private entrance. My wife, in spite of her discomfort, enjoyed the stay. The cabin has been updated and is nicely decorated with a fishing theme. There is also a wall decorated with classical record album covers from the "good old days." As a music lover, I especially enjoyed this unique touch."

Montana Travel Tips

Things to See and Do at Montana Vacation Rentals

Montana cabin rentals and homes offer up wide open spaces, tall mountain ranges and abundant wildlife. It is often referred to as the Big Sky State because of its wilderness appeal. Perhaps Montana's most famous natural attraction is Yellowstone National Park and the tall geyser named "Old Faithful" that erupts on a regular basis. Yellowstone vacation rentals are close to great wildlife viewing. It is home to grizzlies, wolves, and various species of deer, elk and other antelope. There are several hiking trails in the park and one of the highlights is the hike up the Iceberg Trail. The route visits the Ptarmigan Falls and then traverses the southern shore of the glacial lake known as Iceberg Lake.

For those that enjoy water sports, Montana cabin rentals along the river offer many adventure opportunities. There is whitewater rafting, paddling and fishing to be enjoyed. Another favorite way to explore the landscapes is on horseback. There are numerous road and mountain bike trails available for cyclists. For technical riders, there are miles of forest and mountain single-track sections. When the season turns, it isn't the end of the adventures. Instead, when the snows blanket the mountains, it attracts even more visitors. Montana cabins are also close to some of the best ski resorts in North America and they are also some of the more affordable to visit. There are miles of downhill ski runs catering to beginner, intermediate and advanced levels. There are also Nordic and cross country skiing trails and various snowboarding terrain parks. Snowshoeing is a popular pastime and many of the parks offer winter snowshoe hikes. There are also snow coach tours that take you sightseeing and wildlife viewing in the cozy comfort of a heated all-terrain vehicle.
