  • Spacious ranch house

"We rented the entire house and plenty of space. Two window units in the upstairs section and fans in the lower section. Very spacious with plenty of sheets and towels, water pressure was low but it could be the cost effective shower head that makes it seem extra slow of course you want to ensure there is enough hot water for large groups during the winter times. There is plenty of closed space in each room. Wish we had better access to the river but still enjoyed throwing rocks into the water. Outside patio was a nice addition to sit and relax at with a swinging bench to enjoy. Two TVs upstairs and one in the downstairs with direct tv access on everyone. Older house and great for outdoors adventures, there is an elk head mounted in the sitting area between levels. You can get a good workout if you keep going up and down between levels. Remember this is a ranch house and you may get some bugs. We did get to see a turkey a few times and three white tailed deers wondered up to the barn area...a nice treat for the kids. Grocery store and gas stations close by. Missoula is 15 minutes away if you need more options in stores and dining. Overall it took some getting use to since we had so much space to allow the kids to get lost. My 4 year old loved having his own house....one level was basically his to enjoy on his own. Our group consisted of 4 adults and 5 kids ranging from 4-13 years old. We chose this location for its space to relax and take a few days off together."

  • Spectacular View East and West

"After careful consideration and review, I decided to rent this VRBO in Charlo, MT for 3-nights, to celebrate my 50th Birthday with my wife and two boys, ages 12 and 10. The description and photos and reviews were confirmed upon our arrival. This property has the following elements that we were looking for: 1) spectacular view from the East deck with a Table set for four -- I also came out on this balcony numerous times during our stay to take some pictures and to simply admire the view of the mountains, the willow tree, the cherry tree, and the beautiful landscape between the property and the nearby mountains -- we watched sunsets, moon rises, and stars. Loved it - absolutely loved it -- this property is perfect for this reason alone. 2) wonderful view to the West from the front entrance balcony -- again, photographed and admired sunsets toward the West through the Willows that form the property line -- running between East and West views through this rental home to observe the sunset light. 3) The property itself is clean, well-maintained, and had everything we needed for our 3-night stay -- we were on a 28-day road trip from NY and this was our endpoint and opportunity to relax in one location for a few days -- we could have easily stayed here a week. 4) Missoula is nearby as is Glacier NP -- we visited both. 5) We also went to the local Amish/Quaker? Cafe in Ronin -- really fresh good food -- recommended. 6) We wanted a remote location to feel the real Montana -- this place has it -- the owners in their nearby residence concealed by trees left us on our own while also offering an opportunity to explore their 40-acre property -- wish we had more time to wander the property -- maybe next time. 7) Most importantly, we needed a place to celebrate my 50th Birthday, have a home-cooked meal or two, relax in a real home, and reset before heading back East -- this VRBO met every expectation and then some. Highly Recommended. We would definitely return to rent this home again. Cheers!!"

  • Spring Vacation 2014

"First of all the owners are great to deal with, helpful, and nice. The condo building is nothing special but at a very good location. Plenty of parking right in front. The condo itself is awesome. Freshly painted, comfy, warm, clean, and fully stocked with necessities. We had a great time skiing at Big Sky and stayed in almost every night to enjoy and relax. The price was right also. Perfect for families or small groups. We were 2 adults and 2 kids."

Montana Travel Tips

Things to See and Do at Montana Vacation Rentals

Montana cabin rentals and homes offer up wide open spaces, tall mountain ranges and abundant wildlife. It is often referred to as the Big Sky State because of its wilderness appeal. Perhaps Montana's most famous natural attraction is Yellowstone National Park and the tall geyser named "Old Faithful" that erupts on a regular basis. Yellowstone vacation rentals are close to great wildlife viewing. It is home to grizzlies, wolves, and various species of deer, elk and other antelope. There are several hiking trails in the park and one of the highlights is the hike up the Iceberg Trail. The route visits the Ptarmigan Falls and then traverses the southern shore of the glacial lake known as Iceberg Lake.

For those that enjoy water sports, Montana cabin rentals along the river offer many adventure opportunities. There is whitewater rafting, paddling and fishing to be enjoyed. Another favorite way to explore the landscapes is on horseback. There are numerous road and mountain bike trails available for cyclists. For technical riders, there are miles of forest and mountain single-track sections. When the season turns, it isn't the end of the adventures. Instead, when the snows blanket the mountains, it attracts even more visitors. Montana cabins are also close to some of the best ski resorts in North America and they are also some of the more affordable to visit. There are miles of downhill ski runs catering to beginner, intermediate and advanced levels. There are also Nordic and cross country skiing trails and various snowboarding terrain parks. Snowshoeing is a popular pastime and many of the parks offer winter snowshoe hikes. There are also snow coach tours that take you sightseeing and wildlife viewing in the cozy comfort of a heated all-terrain vehicle.

It is also the ideal time of year to explore some of the cultural and historic attractions. The peak season in summertime is during July. The second most popular travel season coincides with the annual snowfalls. The ski season starts in December and, if the weather conditions are good, can last until April.
