  • A great place to hang out

"We stayed at the condo over the July 4th weekend, and it was clean, well maintained, and pleasant. The kitchen has everything you need (cutlery, appliances, coffee maker, etc). The bedrooms were roomy and clean, however, the mattress are a touch old, and one of the couples we were with preferred to stay in the room with the two twin beds, just because the double bed was not quite roomy enough. That being said, it was still pretty comfortable. The condo is located at the very top of the ski hill, so it was a short drive to watch the fireworks from the top of the hill--there was a great view! It's definitely worth checking out during the summer months. The only problem was that the road to the condo is not very clearly marked, but there was ample parking, and the condo is located close to the amenities of the ski hill, so we could walk to grab a drink or a few supplies. Would definitely recommend for a small group, summer or winter."

  • Fabulous Flathead vacation

"We recently spent 2 weeks on Flathead at this incredible lake house! The house is located within walking distance of Bigfork yet peaceful. It's setup wonderfully with comfortable beds, a full featured kitchen, wireless internet, and more. The view from the living room, patio, and dock are stunning as the sunsets. Everyone also have a great time catching some fish right from the dock! When we had a few questions, the owner was very responsive and accommodating. I highly recommend this home for your vacation needs!"

  • Highly Recommended and Great for Families!

"The Monterra Resort is a fabulous property with excellent amenities. Everything is clean and well-maintained and our kids LOVED the pool, hot tub, tennis court, theatre and nearby paved biking/jogging trails. The Monterra is perfectly located with easy access to Glacier National Park, Whitefish Mountain Resort and Kalispell. Rob and Linda, the owners, are excellent to deal with -- gracious and prompt communication and their condo is spacious, clean and filled with everything that you need for an enjoyable vacation. We will definitely be back!"

  • Would highly recommend this property!

"This home provides a wonderful and relaxing experience! It was exactly as described and very clean and well maintained. The kitchen was the best stocked kitchen of ANY VRBO property we have stayed at. It was really nice to have some of the basics already in the kitchen (spices, coffee filters, dishsoap, fresh garlic, etc.) There was also a fabulous gift basket waiting for us upon arrival---truly exceptional! The beds and all of the furniture were clean, comfortable, and the interior invites you to relax and enjoy. We loved all of the artwork displayed on the walls. The views of the mountain were awesome and the location was perfect for us. The owners were accommodating, friendly, and helpful. Would definitely stay here again!"

Montana Travel Tips

Things to See and Do at Montana Vacation Rentals

Montana cabin rentals and homes offer up wide open spaces, tall mountain ranges and abundant wildlife. It is often referred to as the Big Sky State because of its wilderness appeal. Perhaps Montana's most famous natural attraction is Yellowstone National Park and the tall geyser named "Old Faithful" that erupts on a regular basis. Yellowstone vacation rentals are close to great wildlife viewing. It is home to grizzlies, wolves, and various species of deer, elk and other antelope. There are several hiking trails in the park and one of the highlights is the hike up the Iceberg Trail. The route visits the Ptarmigan Falls and then traverses the southern shore of the glacial lake known as Iceberg Lake.

For those that enjoy water sports, Montana cabin rentals along the river offer many adventure opportunities. There is whitewater rafting, paddling and fishing to be enjoyed. Another favorite way to explore the landscapes is on horseback. There are numerous road and mountain bike trails available for cyclists. For technical riders, there are miles of forest and mountain single-track sections. When the season turns, it isn't the end of the adventures. Instead, when the snows blanket the mountains, it attracts even more visitors. Montana cabins are also close to some of the best ski resorts in North America and they are also some of the more affordable to visit. There are miles of downhill ski runs catering to beginner, intermediate and advanced levels. There are also Nordic and cross country skiing trails and various snowboarding terrain parks. Snowshoeing is a popular pastime and many of the parks offer winter snowshoe hikes. There are also snow coach tours that take you sightseeing and wildlife viewing in the cozy comfort of a heated all-terrain vehicle.

Visitors to Montana Cabins

If you love getting away to cabin rentals, Montana has your number: the state attracts those who like wide open spaces, nature and the outdoors. It is the ideal adventure playground in all seasons for those that enjoy an active vacation. In the winter months, many people are attracted to the many excellent ski resorts. It is also a great family vacation destination, especially if you want to instill in your children an appreciation for nature and the outdoors. You can choose your summertime adventure depending on your interests. Most people like to head out on the various hiking trails. Others like to explore on horseback or mountain bikes. There are also strong western traditions with rodeos and shows taking place throughout the season.

Seasons to Visit Montana

There are two favorite seasons for booking Montana vacation homes, depending on your interests. The summer months are generally the most popular for those who want to participate in outdoor activities and wildlife viewing. It is also the ideal time of year to explore some of the cultural and historic attractions. The peak season in summertime is during July. The second most popular travel season coincides with the annual snowfalls. The ski season starts in December and, if the weather conditions are good, can last until April. The peak ski season is during December and January.
