  • Great week skiing Big Sky!

"My group of 7 had a fabulous week skiing Big Sky this March! The condo was perfect for our size group and was even better than the pictures/description suggested. We cooked dinner at the condo almost every night - lots of kitchen supplies available including spices. The condo has ski off access to the Pony Express lift which was great for those of us who did not need to pick up lift tickets in the morning. However, the Moonlight Lodge is literally a 3 minute walk away which has lift ticket sales and a great apre ski bar/restaurant. Our group of late twenty/early thirty year olds ski somewhere different every year and Big Sky is definitely on top of the list: two-three inches of new snow every morning, great intermediate level runs, beautiful views, and lots of terrain between Moonlight Basin and Big Sky. The catwalk over to Big Sky from the condo is not bad - we had no issues covering both mountains in 4 days of skiing. We also took a snow coach tour of Yellowstone one day which was totally worth the price! Highly recommend this condo and spending time in Big Sky. The only reason I did not give this condo 5 stars is because we had issues with the hot tub temperature. Maintenance was able to help us out the same day which was great, but would have been nice not to worry about those kinds of issues. Thanks for a great week!"

  • Comfortable cabin

"This cabin was just as described, a wonderful, cozy, retreat. Not too far from Yellowstone park. We loved the wide open spaces of the surrounding area of the cabin. Quiet, with deer walking thru the yard. Stunning mountain views from the deck. Everything in the cabin was wonderfully equipped and the cabin was spotless. We really appreciated having a washer/dryer after traveling for a week. Really hot days during our stay so we appreciated the small air conditioner in the kitchen. Cool evenings though so it was perfect. We did take a drive to Livingston one day and then discovered that all the stores were closed because it was Sunday. But it was a nice drive and enjoyed the scenery. Highly recommend."

  • Fabulous cozy retreat on Flathead Lake

"My husband and I rented this fabulous little cabin for a week in August, 2014. The owners were fabulous to work with and the cabin was neat, cozy, clean, & private which is just what we were seeking. Owner Melanie was friendly and very concerned with our having a fabulous time (we didn't get to meet her husband, Joe). The kitchen was functional and quite well equipped and we spent hours on the beach, dock, and covered porch overlooking the lake. The bathroom was really nice and the bed cozy with a window overlooking the lake. It was a bit on the chilly side for the time of year we were there and we even had a fire one night in the wood burning stove (wood supplied by rental owners). We brought our 2 mini doxies & border collie and they also had a fabulous time and got to meet the owners sweet German Shepherd, Matador. The cabin is kind of slightly off the beaten path, and the area was great for walking the dogs and enjoying all Montana has to offer. A short day trip and we drove the "road to the sun" highway in Glacier Park, explored Lakeville and a couple of the other towns (we mostly ate in at our cabin, but there are some fabulous restaurants in Lakeville, too). We hope to come back and stay in this cabin again in the next few years! Thanks, Melanie & Joe!"

Montana Travel Tips

Things to See and Do at Montana Vacation Rentals

Montana cabin rentals and homes offer up wide open spaces, tall mountain ranges and abundant wildlife. It is often referred to as the Big Sky State because of its wilderness appeal. Perhaps Montana's most famous natural attraction is Yellowstone National Park and the tall geyser named "Old Faithful" that erupts on a regular basis. Yellowstone vacation rentals are close to great wildlife viewing. It is home to grizzlies, wolves, and various species of deer, elk and other antelope. There are several hiking trails in the park and one of the highlights is the hike up the Iceberg Trail. The route visits the Ptarmigan Falls and then traverses the southern shore of the glacial lake known as Iceberg Lake.

For those that enjoy water sports, Montana cabin rentals along the river offer many adventure opportunities. There is whitewater rafting, paddling and fishing to be enjoyed. Another favorite way to explore the landscapes is on horseback. There are numerous road and mountain bike trails available for cyclists. For technical riders, there are miles of forest and mountain single-track sections. When the season turns, it isn't the end of the adventures. Instead, when the snows blanket the mountains, it attracts even more visitors. Montana cabins are also close to some of the best ski resorts in North America and they are also some of the more affordable to visit. There are miles of downhill ski runs catering to beginner, intermediate and advanced levels. There are also Nordic and cross country skiing trails and various snowboarding terrain parks. Snowshoeing is a popular pastime and many of the parks offer winter snowshoe hikes. There are also snow coach tours that take you sightseeing and wildlife viewing in the cozy comfort of a heated all-terrain vehicle.

Visitors to Montana Cabins

If you love getting away to cabin rentals, Montana has your number: the state attracts those who like wide open spaces, nature and the outdoors. It is the ideal adventure playground in all seasons for those that enjoy an active vacation. In the winter months, many people are attracted to the many excellent ski resorts. It is also a great family vacation destination, especially if you want to instill in your children an appreciation for nature and the outdoors. You can choose your summertime adventure depending on your interests. Most people like to head out on the various hiking trails. Others like to explore on horseback or mountain bikes. There are also strong western traditions with rodeos and shows taking place throughout the season.

Seasons to Visit Montana

There are two favorite seasons for booking Montana vacation homes, depending on your interests. The summer months are generally the most popular for those who want to participate in outdoor activities and wildlife viewing. It is also the ideal time of year to explore some of the cultural and historic attractions. The peak season in summertime is during July. The second most popular travel season coincides with the annual snowfalls. The ski season starts in December and, if the weather conditions are good, can last until April. The peak ski season is during December and January.
