  • Second Time Around --- Just as nice as before!

"This was the second time we stayed at Sentinel Pine and it was just as beautiful as it was the summer before. It was earlier in the season and the weather was not as warm, so the estate had a different feel to it. We spent more evenings inside the main lodge this time around, staying cozy and playing games. Though on the last day the sun came out and we were sunbathing on the dock again. Amazing kitchen for large group dinners, yet enough space for everyone to do their own thing during the day. Great venue for a large group! Owners were awesome in reserving, and the groundskeepers were attentive and helpful during our stay. A+! Again!"

  • Fourth of July perfection

"Our family of six adults and one toddler from Boston and San Francisco thoroughly enjoyed our time at Mary's wonderful Montana log home, complete with a crib and booster seat. We wanted a home with western character and that's exactly what we found. The home is nicely decorated with a western flair. Loved the Edward Curtis photographs of native Americans! Our toddler and family enjoyed splashing in the creek along the property and some of us hiked to the river for a catch or two. Though Montana along with most of the U.S. was experiencing an extreme heat wave and the master bedroom/loft was hot, we relished sitting in the rockers on the porch sipping gin and tonics and having cheese and crackers after a great day fishing on both the Gallatin and Yellowstone rivers. We opened windows during the night and closed them and the shades during the day which helped with the heat, since it cooled off nicely at night. Oh, and the sunsets and star-gazing were fabulous! We went to the Livingston Roundup, played charades, and watched "The River Runs Through" various nights, savoring just why we had picked this slice of God's green earth for our family vacation. We cooked in most nights, grilling on the porch, and found everything we needed for meal prep and dining. Condiments, tea, coffee, good food left from previous renters, etc. Everything was clean and attractive. The nearby Gallatin River Lodge has a delightful setting and serves delicious meals. Thanks, Mary, for sharing your bit of paradise with us! You were a pleasure to work with."

  • Great Fun in Whitefish

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Robert's Monterra Condo. Whitefish certainly has a lot to offer for a vacation get away. The condo was roomy and warm and suited our family of 5 just fine. The clubhouse is wonderful; we used the hot tub and steam room every day. The king bed in the master suite was so comfortable and our 12 and 9 year old shared the queen in the 2nd bedroom without too much complaining! We put our 8 year old to bed in the master and moved her out to the sofa bed when we were ready to turn in. Everyone loved the shower in the master bathroom! We hope to be able to return to Whitefish again to enjoy the outdoors. And, of course, breakfast at Loula's Cafe! The Lemon Stuffed French Toast and Breakfast Burritos were to die for! Thanks for everything Robert!"

  • Can't wait to come back

"My husband and I, our daughter, her husband and two children stayed in this lovely home for a week in early July when we were in the area for a family wedding. Having it as our headquarters made the entire experience very special. The house is architecturally beautiful, very well-appointed and spacious, and has a killer view of the river. It's impeccable and extremely comfortable, with great furniture, excellent mattresses, a high-end kitchen and spa. Going to sleep at night you hear the rushing water; in the morning and at dusk you see deer and rabbits in the yard. The house has large expanses of upper and lower decks, indoor and outdoor fireplaces, great places to sit indoors and out, have a meal or cocktails or just read and watch the river. From linens to utensils to the artwork on the walls, it's simply fantastic. We can't wait to come back!"

Montana Travel Tips

Things to See and Do at Montana Vacation Rentals

Montana cabin rentals and homes offer up wide open spaces, tall mountain ranges and abundant wildlife. It is often referred to as the Big Sky State because of its wilderness appeal. Perhaps Montana's most famous natural attraction is Yellowstone National Park and the tall geyser named "Old Faithful" that erupts on a regular basis. Yellowstone vacation rentals are close to great wildlife viewing. It is home to grizzlies, wolves, and various species of deer, elk and other antelope. There are several hiking trails in the park and one of the highlights is the hike up the Iceberg Trail. The route visits the Ptarmigan Falls and then traverses the southern shore of the glacial lake known as Iceberg Lake.

For those that enjoy water sports, Montana cabin rentals along the river offer many adventure opportunities. There is whitewater rafting, paddling and fishing to be enjoyed. Another favorite way to explore the landscapes is on horseback. There are numerous road and mountain bike trails available for cyclists. For technical riders, there are miles of forest and mountain single-track sections. When the season turns, it isn't the end of the adventures. Instead, when the snows blanket the mountains, it attracts even more visitors. Montana cabins are also close to some of the best ski resorts in North America and they are also some of the more affordable to visit. There are miles of downhill ski runs catering to beginner, intermediate and advanced levels. There are also Nordic and cross country skiing trails and various snowboarding terrain parks. Snowshoeing is a popular pastime and many of the parks offer winter snowshoe hikes. There are also snow coach tours that take you sightseeing and wildlife viewing in the cozy comfort of a heated all-terrain vehicle.
