  • Great family friendly cabin

"We were in Missoula visiting family. We enjoyed the wonderful location, a little outside the town but close to the grocery store and very quiet. Our youngest child enjoyed having some toys to play with and the older ones loved the spread out layout of the home. The wireless internet was so great and we were able to hookup our iPhone into the stereo (using our own cable) and listen to our favorite tunes while relaxing in the cute living room. Our family found the home to be restful, beautiful and just like being at home! Thanks to Britt for communicating so well and making sure we felt welcome."

  • Return visit for 3 families who love the comfort & ski in/out access!

"This was our second stay at Wood Run 306D -- we just had to come back after last year. We are a big group but all the adults had plenty of space and privacy and all the kids had a blast in the bunk room with movies and games and their own bathroom. We love the hot tub and the true ski in/out access and ski storage room with benches. Great for getting out to the hill for full days of excellent powder! The entire place is well furnished with all the kitchen necessities for great meals, from BBQing to baking. I'm sure Whitefish is a nice town but we never felt the need to leave the comfort of our home away from home. Thanks!"

  • Relaxing 25th Anniversaary

"My husband and I were celebrating our 25th anniversary and we had a get away that was well worth it. The surroundings were so peaceful and just what we needed. Being up in the mountains made us forget reality for a few days and our motto was "life is good"!!! We got to see a hawk land on our front porch and a deer eat fresh raspberries no more than 15 feet from the back deck. The awe and beauty that surrounded us filled our spirit, the hot tub was a plus too :) We are talking about making it a yearly visit. We felt right at home and close enough to shops, white water rafting, zip lining and so much more....life is good!!!"

Montana Travel Tips

Things to See and Do at Montana Vacation Rentals

Montana cabin rentals and homes offer up wide open spaces, tall mountain ranges and abundant wildlife. It is often referred to as the Big Sky State because of its wilderness appeal. Perhaps Montana's most famous natural attraction is Yellowstone National Park and the tall geyser named "Old Faithful" that erupts on a regular basis. Yellowstone vacation rentals are close to great wildlife viewing. It is home to grizzlies, wolves, and various species of deer, elk and other antelope. There are several hiking trails in the park and one of the highlights is the hike up the Iceberg Trail. The route visits the Ptarmigan Falls and then traverses the southern shore of the glacial lake known as Iceberg Lake.

For those that enjoy water sports, Montana cabin rentals along the river offer many adventure opportunities. There is whitewater rafting, paddling and fishing to be enjoyed. Another favorite way to explore the landscapes is on horseback. There are numerous road and mountain bike trails available for cyclists. For technical riders, there are miles of forest and mountain single-track sections. When the season turns, it isn't the end of the adventures. Instead, when the snows blanket the mountains, it attracts even more visitors. Montana cabins are also close to some of the best ski resorts in North America and they are also some of the more affordable to visit. There are miles of downhill ski runs catering to beginner, intermediate and advanced levels. There are also Nordic and cross country skiing trails and various snowboarding terrain parks. Snowshoeing is a popular pastime and many of the parks offer winter snowshoe hikes. There are also snow coach tours that take you sightseeing and wildlife viewing in the cozy comfort of a heated all-terrain vehicle.

The summer months are generally the most popular for those who want to participate in outdoor activities and wildlife viewing. It is also the ideal time of year to explore some of the cultural and historic attractions. The peak season in summertime is during July. The second most popular travel season coincides with the annual snowfalls. The ski season starts in December and, if the weather conditions are good, can last until April.
