  • Lots of space, mountain air, away from hustle & bustle

"We enjoyed an extended 4th of July weekend at the Big Mountain Condo with our adult children and young grandchildren. The condo was spacious enough to accommodate everyone's needs with room for the group to visit, as well as places for people to get away for a nap. We really appreciated having the playpen and rubbermaid bin of toys for the grandkids to enjoy. The back deck was big enough for all 8 adults to sit and visit comfortably while we barbecued dinner. We brought our own chairs and I would recommend that to others as there are only 2 on the deck. We were happy to find the kitchen even had a crockpot! It is very well-appointed. We were disappointed the hot tub was not open while we were visiting, but the hot summer nights may not have been conducive to that anyway. The condo does not have A/C, but there are nice ceiling fans in every bedroom; as well as sliding glass doors out on the multi-level decks so you can easily create air flow to cool it off. (Montana cools off very nicely in the evenings, and you can't beat the fresh mountain air!) We happened across the little store just up the road while out on a walk the first night and found it very handy when we ran out of milk and needed ice. They have a wide variety of foods available and staff that are very informative on the activities available at the resort (Alpine slide, gondola rides, hiking trails). While not fancy, the Big Mountain condo has all the necessities for a great getaway! Thanks for being so great to work with and for sharing your lovely space!"

  • Awesome !!!

"My husband and I enjoyed our stay at this beautiful home on Duck lake. Everything was wonderful. We had a great experience staying here. Loved all the pictures, quilts, comfy bed etc. There is a view of the lake from one side of the house and a view of the mountains from the other side of the house. The beds were very comfortable and we slept very well. September 9th & 10th we were snowed in but made the most of our time by reading, watching a movie etc. Actually, it didn't just snow on Wednesday it was a blizzard that blew hard for 24 hours straight. But, we were nice and comfy in the house. The day we left the sky and the roads cleared and the mountains were majestic with all the new snow on them. The horses that roam freely are a "hoot" but be careful driving in and out. We had a horse jump a fence, right in front of our car, and we almost hit it. "Roy" was only there the first day but he was fun to have around. Enjoyed seeing the white pelican. Only saw it twice while we were there but it was beautiful. The sunsets were amazing!!! All in all some wonderful memories!!! Irene, thanks so much for the delicious fresh fruit. That was really appreciated. Close to Many Glacier for some great hiking. Don't forget to stop at FisherCap lake to see the moose. Fun to see in the wild!"

  • Worth every mile to get there!

"We traveled over 1200 miles to arrive at the cabin and it was worth every mile! Absolute quiet, phenomenal scenery and a totally equipped and appointed cabin. You are close enough to Yellowstone to do day trips, but far enough away to just sit on the porch and let the silence and beauty refresh your soul. Everything that we needed was there and more! Very clean and with a kitchen stocked with more pans and pans than we would use at home! We cannot recommend this cabin enough for those who are looking for a place they would never want to leave."

  • Family Vacation

"My family and I (13 of us) spent a week in this lovely home. It was spacious, clean, well-stocked, well-furnished and a fully equipped kitchen. We ate in every night, mostly using the grill but also the oven. The home lived up to the photos and amenities. It was secluded enough but yet very picturesque and our group loved using the fire pit. We spent several days at Glacier, mostly hiking. Also, did white water rafting, zip lining, and hiking at Big Mountain (we were able to pick huckleberries, before the bears got them). The best Family Vacation ever, we were ages 72 through 12. I would definitely recommend this to a large family/group."

Montana Travel Tips

Things to See and Do at Montana Vacation Rentals

Montana cabin rentals and homes offer up wide open spaces, tall mountain ranges and abundant wildlife. It is often referred to as the Big Sky State because of its wilderness appeal. Perhaps Montana's most famous natural attraction is Yellowstone National Park and the tall geyser named "Old Faithful" that erupts on a regular basis. Yellowstone vacation rentals are close to great wildlife viewing. It is home to grizzlies, wolves, and various species of deer, elk and other antelope. There are several hiking trails in the park and one of the highlights is the hike up the Iceberg Trail. The route visits the Ptarmigan Falls and then traverses the southern shore of the glacial lake known as Iceberg Lake.

For those that enjoy water sports, Montana cabin rentals along the river offer many adventure opportunities. There is whitewater rafting, paddling and fishing to be enjoyed. Another favorite way to explore the landscapes is on horseback. There are numerous road and mountain bike trails available for cyclists. For technical riders, there are miles of forest and mountain single-track sections. When the season turns, it isn't the end of the adventures. Instead, when the snows blanket the mountains, it attracts even more visitors. Montana cabins are also close to some of the best ski resorts in North America and they are also some of the more affordable to visit. There are miles of downhill ski runs catering to beginner, intermediate and advanced levels. There are also Nordic and cross country skiing trails and various snowboarding terrain parks. Snowshoeing is a popular pastime and many of the parks offer winter snowshoe hikes. There are also snow coach tours that take you sightseeing and wildlife viewing in the cozy comfort of a heated all-terrain vehicle.

Visitors to Montana Cabins

If you love getting away to cabin rentals, Montana has your number: the state attracts those who like wide open spaces, nature and the outdoors. It is the ideal adventure playground in all seasons for those that enjoy an active vacation. In the winter months, many people are attracted to the many excellent ski resorts. It is also a great family vacation destination, especially if you want to instill in your children an appreciation for nature and the outdoors. You can choose your summertime adventure depending on your interests. Most people like to head out on the various hiking trails. Others like to explore on horseback or mountain bikes. There are also strong western traditions with rodeos and shows taking place throughout the season.

Seasons to Visit Montana

There are two favorite seasons for booking Montana vacation homes, depending on your interests. The summer months are generally the most popular for those who want to participate in outdoor activities and wildlife viewing. It is also the ideal time of year to explore some of the cultural and historic attractions. The peak season in summertime is during July. The second most popular travel season coincides with the annual snowfalls. The ski season starts in December and, if the weather conditions are good, can last until April. The peak ski season is during December and January.
