  • Wonderful location and home for family gathering!

"My six siblings, spouses and mother gathered at the Sun House for a family celebration with the goal of everyone staying in the same house and having enough space to move around easily and still get along by day #3. The Sun House was the perfect match for us! There are so many interestring features of the Sun House and it is located with easy access to Chico Hot Springs, the Boiling River, Yellowstone Park and the beautiful Paradise Valley in general. We highly recommend this warm, unique, spacious home for your family vacation. Thank you for opening your doors to others!"

  • Excellent family vacation home

"This mountain home is exactly as described in a beautiful setting. We stayed a week and it went by too fast. We enjoyed hiking (especially Beehive Basin and Ousel Falls) and activities in the area including white water rafting, zip lining, ropes course, horseback riding, the lone peak expedition and a couple of day trips into Yellowstone. We spotted a moose in the Moonlight Basin area as well as on our way to Yellowstone along the Gallatin River. The kids loved the loft in the home along with the great supply of games (board, cards and electronic). The kitchen and eating area were very nice. We loved having a washer and dryer, plenty of bathrooms and wifi was a plus. The hot tub on the desk was a nice treat too as well as the areas to sit outside and look at the lovely views. We definitely recommend this home to others. It is truly a beautiful place. In addition, the places to eat in the surrounding area are terrific. We really enjoyed Olive B's, Buck T-4 and the Gallatin Riverhouse. A fun and memorable family vacation was had by all!"

  • Great experience

"We were a party of 8 senior adults and our stay was very enjoyable. We did most of our own cooking in the kitchen and ate our meals on the very nice deck. Nice and quiet and access to the property was easy. The entire area is beautiful with plenty of activities. The beds were comfortable and each bedroom had a large closet. Big pantry for storing your food. Very nice."

  • Too little time....

"We had such a wonderful short stay at Diana's cottage.. The cottage was in the perfect area to come and go from. The cottage is very cozy and Spotlessly clean and comfy. It was more than perfect! The photo's do the cottage no justice. It's 10 times better! Meeting Diana was like meeting an old friend. You can tell she has a kind heart. There is so much information about the area that is readily available and she is just a phone call away if any questions. The Whitefish area has so much to offer ... We would be back here in a heartbeat! The Ziplining on Whitefish Mt was spectacular! Thank you for sharing your cottage with us and making our trip to Beautiful Montana what it was..."

Montana Travel Tips

Things to See and Do at Montana Vacation Rentals

Montana cabin rentals and homes offer up wide open spaces, tall mountain ranges and abundant wildlife. It is often referred to as the Big Sky State because of its wilderness appeal. Perhaps Montana's most famous natural attraction is Yellowstone National Park and the tall geyser named "Old Faithful" that erupts on a regular basis. Yellowstone vacation rentals are close to great wildlife viewing. It is home to grizzlies, wolves, and various species of deer, elk and other antelope. There are several hiking trails in the park and one of the highlights is the hike up the Iceberg Trail. The route visits the Ptarmigan Falls and then traverses the southern shore of the glacial lake known as Iceberg Lake.

For those that enjoy water sports, Montana cabin rentals along the river offer many adventure opportunities. There is whitewater rafting, paddling and fishing to be enjoyed. Another favorite way to explore the landscapes is on horseback. There are numerous road and mountain bike trails available for cyclists. For technical riders, there are miles of forest and mountain single-track sections. When the season turns, it isn't the end of the adventures. Instead, when the snows blanket the mountains, it attracts even more visitors. Montana cabins are also close to some of the best ski resorts in North America and they are also some of the more affordable to visit. There are miles of downhill ski runs catering to beginner, intermediate and advanced levels. There are also Nordic and cross country skiing trails and various snowboarding terrain parks. Snowshoeing is a popular pastime and many of the parks offer winter snowshoe hikes. There are also snow coach tours that take you sightseeing and wildlife viewing in the cozy comfort of a heated all-terrain vehicle.

Seasons to Visit Montana

There are two favorite seasons for booking Montana vacation homes, depending on your interests. The summer months are generally the most popular for those who want to participate in outdoor activities and wildlife viewing. It is also the ideal time of year to explore some of the cultural and historic attractions. The peak season in summertime is during July. The second most popular travel season coincides with the annual snowfalls. The ski season starts in December and, if the weather conditions are good, can last until April.
